I don't really wanna talk about this on here and I wasn't anticipating waking up, seeing things, and talking about this but sometimes I gotta speak up. I can't help who I am, and I proud of being me. Beyond the talking points and all the things, this continued discourse about trans women in sports and the unfairness of it all is tiresome and damaging. Sure. Discuss "fairness" and "advantages" but it's never discussed respectfully. It's never done with trans women in the room. It's most likely never discussed with people that love trans women in the room. I am turned off by these conversations because at the jump they don't not speak about people like me respectfully or with regard to our identity. It always and instantly falls beyond the smoke screen of sports, and goes to bathroom use, and then immediately to protecting women and girls. The comments to this discourse are filled with vile hatred, and a totally false narrative of men creeping as women to be absolutely terrible human beings. Men that are men are the best at that, we don't need to dress them up as trans women to know who the real monsters are. This whole idea of men competing in womens sports as explained or fantasized in popular media does not exist. The reality is that there are real humans that are trans, some are kids, trying to live normal lives. Trying to navigate these tricky situations, these climates, these society's, religions, and right now we are making that extremely difficult. Even if you turn off your phones as a trans person I can feel it in my day to day reality. The static of how people stare. The stress of trying to pee. No way I'm using the men's room. Remember those monsters? It's all punching down. Built of ignorance. I'm not going to debate the fairness of it all because that's not what this is about. I would gladly have conversations as long as I am referred to and respected as who I am, and that language and grace is demonstrated to the masses. So we do not empower them in the holes of your ignorance to continue to treat us as non humans. As objects to be ridiculed and afraid of. Tired. by @moodieblack
