🌤Daily Nightly🌙 In November 1967, 59 years ago this month, a Moog Model IIIP appeared on @themonkees’ album “Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, & Jones Ltd.” The group was an early adopter of Moog synthesizers, as were @thedoors on “Strange Days” and Cosmic Sounds of the Zodiac on “Cosmic Sounds,” who also released songs using the instrument that same year. You can listen to “Daily Nightly” as part of the Bob Moog Timeline exhibit at the Moogseum, which features over 100 songs that use Moog Synthesizers. Get your Moogseum tickets at the link in our bio! Visit the Moogseum November 12-16 for “Minimoog Through the Ages”, a special five-day exhibit exploring the groundbreaking design, enduring musical influence, and distinctive histories of the iconic Minimoog synthesizer. #moogsynthesizer #monkees #thedoors #cosmicsounds #synthhistory #modularsynthesis #thingstodoinasheville #dadavl #supportmuseums by @moogseum

🌳The Trees🌳 Released on October 29, 1978, 28 years ago today, on @rush’s album "Hemispheres", "The Trees" features the use of both a Minimoog and Taurus played by Geddy Lee (@geddyimages). The Trees was written by the band’s late drummer, Neil Peart, who stated in a 1980 issue of @modern_drummer, “...I was working on an entirely different thing when I saw a cartoon picture of these trees carrying on like fools. I thought, 'What if trees acted like people?” However, in his 2007 book "Roadshow: Landscape With Drums. A Concert Tour by Motorcycle", Peart clarified that the song was "a parable about collectivism". You can hear the unmistakable Moog sound during the shimmering instrumental theme. Visit the Moogseum and explore more famous songs that use various Moog synthesizers by interacting with the Bob Moog Timeline. ⚡🎶Voltage-Controlled Electronic Music Modules🎶⚡ In October of 1964, 62 years ago this month, Bob Moog’s article on Voltage-Controlled Modules was presented at the Audio Engineering Society’s (@aes_org) annual meeting. Bob states early in the article: “Electronic music, as the term is understood to mean at the present time, is the class of musical compositions either created solely by electronic means, or utilizing sounds which have been heavily processed electronically…The wide variety of sounds which can be readily produced electronically but are impossible to produce through conventional musical instruments offer the composer an enormous variety of new musical effects and elements of composition. In addition, the composer is able to arrange the sounds exactly as he wishes,- to "compose" the music in the most literal sense. The composer pays heavily for these added advantages. With a multiplicity of sound parameters under his control, the composer must become adept at manipulating his electronic apparatus so it will produce the desired results.” Visit the Moogseum to learn more about Bob Moog’s pioneering legacy and his contributions to today’s musical landscape. Aurally & Visually Striking 👂👀🎹 Launched byRoland (@rolandglobal) in 1981, the Jupiter-8 is lauded for its lively, versatile sound, straightforward user interface, and legendary status. The Jupiter-8 is an 8-voice, 16-oscillator beauty with some tricks up its sleeve. It was the first truly polyphonic synth with a split keyboard. You can assign four voices to the left side and four to the right, letting you play chords with the left hand and solo with the right. You can also layer voices so that each key plays two different sounds. Unison mode stacks all 16 oscillators, and polyphonic portamento lets the Jupiter-8 glide from chord to chord. Learn even more about this aurally and visually striking synthesizer at the Moogseum. Our Timeline of Synthesis exhibit is full of extensive history about this and 33 other historically significant synthesizers.
