Here's just a quick little pre-holiday post for all the silver face gear lovers here in the vinyl hood. I found this cool little ornament in a local store. They only had two. Not sure where else they may be found. It's in glass & plastic with a wee bit of glitter thrown on, but not to excess, and the detail is quite good. Music ornaments are definitely out there!

Does anyone else here put music themed decorations out at Xmas? 🎶🎄🎧

Have a smooth Saturday Y'all!

Heard a rumor earlier today that #thesaturdaysaloon still rises from the ashes from time to time. It's been a minute since I've raised a glass to those great hosts @audio.phool , @karenvinylgirl and @digg_d0ug .

So here's an oldie but goodie. Little Big Town's second album with a favorite of mine "Boondocks" to provide a nice background to this lazy afternoon. Cheers to the hosts and all familiar faces!! 🥃🍻🍹

Time is the story today. And #thatothergroup the #superfriendssunday kids are pulling out songs in 6/8 time.

The #legionofdoomsday are going wild with all the crazy time signatures to be found in some classic tracks.

I had to go with an old favorite whose odd 7/4 changing to 4/4 was a real attention grabber when I played it for the first time. "Money" definitely makes you sit up and take notice, all the rest of the album perfect all the way.

A pleasant afternoon to all. Check out all the other's...

On this holiday weekend the folks of #superfriendssunday are indulging their sweet tooth with cakes, pies etc.

But my buds at #legionofdoomsday are filling the picnic table with all the other culinary pleasures to be had from the savory to the sour, especially on this Summer holiday.

So here's a bit of spice to counter the sweetness. This is 2020's The Bonny by Scottish singer /songwriter and acoustic guitarist Gerry Cinnamon. If you've never heard him, you should. He's spicy, salty, direct and calls it like he sees it with an eye for the real and a voice that becomes addictive the more you listen.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and check out the posts of these good folks:

Summer is here and it's festival season.

Bonnaroo, Coachella, Glastonbury, SXSW and all the local shows. The girls are ready to take them all on in style and have a Summer full of great music and memorable experiences together.

Hope everyone has the chance to take in plenty of live music and good times with friends and family. 🌞✨️🌛🎶

It's that time again...

The good folks of #superfriendssunday are showing off their clean windows clear records today. As for myself and the #legionofdoomsday bunch, it's an array of kaleidoscope colors and patterns!

So, here's a little Ella in Aqua for you to feast your eyes (and ears) upon.

A pleasing Sunday to all. ☀️🩵

Today our good neighbors, the #superfriendssunday crowd have Title Tracks on their minds. It follows that the #legionofdoomsday will of course scatter in the opposite direction.

Albums with no title track come in all sorts, and I'm going with this best of compilation by one of my all time favorite girl groups, The Shangri-Las. Four sides of prime cuts by a legendary group of Ladies.

Check out all the goodies my compadres have featured today :

Getting caught up on this gloomy Sunday. Our neighbors across the hall, #superfriendssunday folks want to sing the praises of Sunshine and all the upbeat, cheery tunes it inspires.

Sun? What sun? Didn't see it last week and looks like the clouds will still be hanging out next week too.

My cohorts in the #legionofdoomsday are in step with plenty of visually and sonically "Dark" themes today.

The Darkest I have comes from the Godfather of dark techno, Gary Numan. "Intruder" from 2021, the follow up thematically to "Savage".

A concept album told from the point of view of the Apocalyptic ravaged planet Earth. Expressing it's pain, rage and betrayal towards it's "Children" for what they have done.

There is also a song here titled "A Black Sun" appropriate for our counter theme. This album, like the previous one, is chilling, hypnotic and beautiful. As a long time Numan fan I consider it one of his best.

For this week, the #superfriendssunday folks are choosing Prog as their featured spin. And we here in the Halls of Doom are meeting that with Pop and a few other tasty alternatives.

Here's my pick, a Pop landmark from 1981. A breakout album for Hall & Oates and a fine way to kick off a great music decade. Private Eyes and I Can't Go For That are always guaranteed to get me grooving.

Happy Sunday people, and check out the other surprising finds by the #legionofdoomsday :

Got a surprise of these lovelies and a bag of sweets this afternoon as I observe completing another trip around the sun. I'm settling in now for an evening of tunes and maybe watch a favorite comedy later.

Here's to being older, wiser, but never completely growing up! 😉💐 🎉🍻 🎂 🎶

We're back again at the end of another week, and time of course for the head-to-head between the Supers #superfriendssunday & Doomers #legionofdoomsday !

#thatothergroup opted for bands that rose from the ashes of a previous band.

It's more fun for us to visit those who stayed solo, never were in a band at all or managed just one album etc.

Everyone knows how Eric Clapton got around back in the day and at one point joined Duane Allman and a host of star players as Derek And The Dominos to leave us with this double album called simply, Layla.

And here also is the wonderful full length live tribute to that album by the Tedeschi Trucks Band & Trey Anastasio from 2021. Listening to both in one day makes for a very interesting marathon.

Also, today is Eric C's Birthday. 🎂

Have fun looking at all the coolness my Doomster buds have brought for show and tell!

Sunday's head-to-head between #superfriendssunday and #legionofdoomsday reads....Them: Coffee Us: What's your pleasure?

I'm reminded of sublime Sundays ages ago, when I occasionally went to a little place at the edge of The Plaza in K.C., Tomfooleries, which had a legendary Sunday brunch buffet.

A spread of every brunch delicacy you could imagine drew too many folks to fit into such a tiny space all at once. And to accompany it all, coffee, teas and Champagne!! 🍾🥂

Celebrating that delightful memory, coffee won't do. It's that light, bubbly, happiness inducing Champagne jam I'm craving today.

So here's the smooth A R S to float me away...

Wishing a delightful day to all, check out my Doomer buds offerings :
