On June 20th at an urban farm in Berkeley I made a bountiful grazing table for a lovely 170 person wedding celebration ❤️ my mom @junestoddardart painted illustrations for the menu, my beloved @neeeill took these photos, @jessicadeanharrison was my prep queen, and Miggy was our fish king! Thank you to everyone who helped me create this feast, I love to cook for weddings.

• Focaccia with vegan butter and French breakfast radishes
• Tuna stuffed peppers with a lot of lemon zest
• Gildas with piparra peppers, sungolds, and olives
• Kanpachi crudo with pickled kumquat in endive

Over the weekend I catered my first wedding for two of my dear friends, Emma and Kate ❤️ it was a real labor of love, spreadsheets, delicious produce, and friendship!

Menu:

• Striped bass with melted summer squash and sungold sauce
• Blistered haricot verts with caper raisin vinaigrette
• Heirloom lettuce salad with green herbs and Dijon vinaigrette
• Stuffed peppers for the veg guests filled with sushi rice and good mother stallard beans cooked with Dave’s Korean veggie broth, topped with the feta and herb fried bread crumbs
• Roasted potatoes with black olive aioli
• Early girl tomato salad with fennel seed chile crisp
• Ribeye with salsa verde

I was going through old photos of past pop-ups and events and wanted to share some of my favorite bites and moments from over the years. I love to see how a recipe I created for a pop-up can end up being used for a wedding, or how friendships can evolve into creative partnerships, how hosting a pop-up differs from catering an event. Moonbeam Kitchen has grown and changed a lot over the years and it’s nice to look back and see moments that especially reflect myself and the community I’ve built through it.

Last weekend I hosted a cozy pop-up dinner at my godparents’ house. The last time I hosted a dinner at their home was eight years ago, before so much of my culinary career had taken place. I felt my growth in this dinner, in the menu, in the friends who were present, in having my sweet Neil there as my sous chef. It is so special to have people who want to eat my food, cook with me, and open their home in honor of a delicious meal. I love to cook! And I love my LA community ❤️

It’s time for my annual pop-up dinner on Saturday October 25th! This time it’s a feast of fall flavors. Think kabocha squash, lamb shoulder ragù with hand rolled cavatelli, brown butter and quince, radicchio…. Menu coming soon!
