Welcome! I’m Jill, a massage therapist, lymphatic drainage therapist and owner of Moonseed Massage & Bodywork in Inverness, IL.

I specialize in bodywork for women’s health and my approach is rooted in a simple belief: your body is wise, not broken. When you come in for a session, we start there. I listen first to your words, then to your body and work to support a more easeful way of being.

Sometimes that support shows up as change in tissue. Sometimes it’s creating enough safety and relaxation for the body to unwind on its own. My role is to offer skilled, intuitive, hands-on care and allow the body to respond in the way it knows how.

I’ve spent over 30 years working in women’s health through fitness, health coaching, vibrational education, indigenous arts, and energy work, alongside extensive training in massage and lymphatic therapy. All of that experience informs my grounded, practical style of bodywork.

My intention in my work is to support women in returning to a sense of ease, strength and internal balance.

A little context for how I work and who I work best with 😊. Appointments are usually booked a few weeks in advance, so planning ahead is best. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

This is where your sessions take place. It’s a quiet, private space designed for you to settle in to your body. On a warm day, we can open the window and let birdsong flood in from the wetlands outside. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

Before anyone arrives, I already know one thing.

I don’t know what today’s session will look like.

I know why you’ve booked.

I know your intake.

But I don’t know what I’ll observe, until you’re here.

That’s one of the things I love most about this work.

Every session begins with curiosity.

Observation comes before technique.

Listening comes before doing. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

My approach to lymphatic massage has been shaped by years of study, careful observation and thousands of hours working with bodies.

Clinical Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
Brazilian techniques.
Myofascial lymphatic work.
Facial lymphatic drainage.
Post-surgical care.
Traditional healing practices.

Each has changed the way I observe the body.

Today, my work is informed by all of them. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

I’ve stopped identifying with one school of thought.

I’m not interested in debating what lymphatic drainage is called, or what it is or isn’t.

I continue to pursue advanced education because every teacher, every client, and every body has something to teach.

This is what I know:

Every movement should make sense.
Every technique should have a reason.
Every tool should contribute to the session.

This is what I see:

Some bodies are so sensitive that the person can feel the fluid moving.

Sometimes the change is visible: swelling softens, the shape of an arm or abdomen changes or a pregnant client gets off the table and realizes she can put her shoes on again.

Sometimes it reveals itself later: several pounds of water released, greater ease of digestion or a body that simply feels and functions better.

I am always amazed by this work: by the changes I can see, by the changes clients can feel, and by the smile that sometimes appears when someone gets off the table and discovers that their body feels different. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

People come for sobada with painful or difficult periods, abdominal and pelvic tension, bloating, constipation, fertility concerns, postpartum changes, or for a deeper connection to them selves.

At Moonseed, they receive traditional abdominal work to soften and mobilize the tissues and organs of the abdomen, encourage alignment, support healthy movement and function, and bring greater ease to the belly and womb. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

I am, for one, very glad that womb healing is becoming trendy.

People throughout the world have tended wombs, supported birth, and cared for the center of the body throughout human history.

In curanderismo, and in the places and lineages I come from, this hands-on work is called Sobada.

It is one expression of something deeply human: using hands-on techniques to move and soften the tissues and organs of the belly, encourage alignment, and create greater ease through the center of the body. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

Walking through Pilsen, on my way to @verdehws, I loved seeing the outdoor altars and shrines tucked alongside people’s homes. Flowers, weathered statues, lights, and devotion made visible.

Seeing these expressions of faith and culture woven into the neighborhood made my heart burst a little. Made me miss living in the city where neighborhoods like this one saturates every cell of me with culture and people who make me feel the world beyond myself.

There is something special about preparing the room for a prenatal session.

Fresh flowers. Soft light. Extra pillows. Time set aside with nowhere else to be.

Moonseed’s Signature Prenatal Massage Protocol has grown through years of learning, listening, and caring for women throughout pregnancy. Every session is an opportunity to support the changing body with thoughtful bodywork, careful positioning, and a deep respect for the remarkable work already taking place.

It remains one of the greatest privileges of my work. taken in Inverness, Illinois by @moonseedmassage

Decades ago, I began studying perinatal bodywork + massage because I needed it. What I didn’t expect was how deeply that work would change me. Through my own pregnancy and studies, perinatal work became more than another specialty. It became the foundation of my practice.

Moonseed’s Signature Prenatal Massage Protocol has grown through years of advanced training, clinical experience, and the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of women during pregnancy. Today, every session blends therapeutic bodywork with thoughtful positioning, careful observation, and techniques that honor the remarkable changes taking place in the body as it prepares for birth.

I believe pregnancy deserves more than a modified massage. It deserves work designed specifically for this extraordinary season of life.
