Introducing our beautiful new ceramic 8oz cups, handmade in Paris by the very talented Ella Fatima! @ellafatima.ceramics Ella is the co-owner of our favourite cafe in Paris - Clove, and also happens to be a ceramicist making wonderfully earthy delicate objects, which we were lucky enough to experience first hand in her cafe in Montmartre. With this aligned aesthetic it was an obvious choice when we decided to commission our new cups. @clovecoffeeshop The concept was inspired by our interior scheme (designed by YAM studios), which features clean lines, with subtle texture in the finishes. The form of the cup comes from Ella’s existing work, with an elegant silhouette, combined with a beautiful custom glaze of patinaed green and brown, both of which feature heavily in our cafe interior. @yamstudios We’re so thrilled with the result, and love serving up drinks in these delightful ceramics. My friend @gonzalorayo created this beautiful little film of Monday night’s special event: TEiP × MOONSTRUCK. @lionellcrasto and I collaborated to create an evening exploring coffee through the lens of philosophy, and philosophy through the lens of coffee. I wrote three thought experiments inspired by conversations with Lionel, The Book of Coffee by @julianbaggini with @jimseven , and some real-life experiences. Lionel facilitated a comparative tasting of decaf and two exceptional Colombian coffees, and answered our many questions about the world of coffee. Combining the THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBLIC* (TEiP) format with a coffee tasting opened up unpredictable and enlightening conversations about ritual, perception, preferences, context, and ethics. Several participants messaged me the next day to say that the conversations had led them to drink their coffee differently, and even to approach their daily rituals differently. This was the first event of its kind, and the first time TEiP has ventured into a café. And what a café to start with: @moonstruck.cafe is a unique and welcoming place, ranked 18th best café in Europe! I think Gonzo has perfectly captured the night, and the TEiP atmosphere more generally: simultaneously peaceful and convivial. A different way to experience coffee ☕️ On Monday 10 August, TEiP is popping up at Moonstruck Café for a special event. We’ll explore coffee through the lens of philosophy, and philosophy through the lens of coffee. We’ll discuss three original, human-written thought experiments inspired by life, literature, and sources including The Book of Coffee by Julian Baggini with James Hoffmann. TEiP community member @lionellcrasto , who also happens to be a coffee ambassador and award-winning barista, will provide exceptional coffee (including decaf) and expert knowledge. This is a special cupping featuring coffees gathered from this year’s World of Coffee in Brussels, Belgium.
