Monday, November 16th: Las Madres de Berks Documentary Screening and Panel Join us on Monday, November 16th in Graham Auditorium for a screening of Las Madres de Berks followed by a panel discussion featuring Artist Michelle Angela Ortiz and immigrant rights organizers @palovesimmigrants @freemigrationproject Ortiz created the Las Madres de Berks documentary, which shares the testimonials of four mothers who were detained for two years with their children at The Berks County Residential Center, a family prison in Pennsylvania. Berks is the oldest of the three permanent family prisons for immigrant families in the country. Despite being held up as a “model” by proponents of immigrant detention, the center has amassed a record of human rights violations. All events are free and open to the public. #contemporaryart #philadelphia #exhibitions #lasmadresdeberks #screening by @moorecollegeart

Out here catching warm moments in Wilson courtyard in the early morning before campus wakes up. October plantings are still lush with flowering anemones and lots of other green leaves are thriving. Credit to @apiary_studio for reimagining the space with us! Lounging is welcome and encouraged 24/7. by @moorecollegeart
New show alert! Now on view in our Alumni Gallery through November 7, 2026: "Language Studies" by e bond '96. Both collections grew out of a residency at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, where e printed directly from the museum's wood type collection. Join us for the opening reception on Friday, October 9 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm (when we'll also be celebrating a new solo exhibition by alum Michelle Angela Ortiz '00.) And join us again on Thursday, October 29 from 11:30 am – 1 pm via Zoom for an artist talk with e bond and Faculty Emerita of Graphic Design, Gigi McGee. First days of back-to-school are officially in the books! New student orientation was a glorious week of exploring the city—Philly is our campus, after all! Picnic in the Azalea Garden with majestic views of the Philadelphia Museum of Art @philamuseumart followed by a tour around Center City including City Hall, another amazing architectural feature of our fine local landscape. 🧊 There were indoor ice-breaker activities too. Moore’s Great Hall was host to lots of get-to-know your fellow classmates games, and there can only be one Musical Chairs champion! 🪑 🏆 Warmest welcome to all of our new and returning students! We are grateful to have you in our community and look forward to another fabulous year at Moore College of Art & Design. And shout out to the student photographers who captured all of these exciting and memorable moments! by @moorecollegeart
Self-portrait update! Juniors and seniors in our new Advanced Figure & Oil Painting class are making incredible progress on their portraits—color is being carefully layered in as they continue to build depth, detail, and texture. This isn’t their only assignment! Sometimes it’s helpful to step away from a project and work on something new, then come back to it with fresh perspective. Professor Christopher Williams @theblackdavinci keeps the vibes flowing! Artists shown include @jaduhlam @_nkywings @autumnsyhoward.art @a.goose.does.art @richitism @inkvmo @_jaydesigns_005_ @shrooomy_queeen (and DM if I missed you!) @illustrationatmoore by @moorecollegeart
Still flying high with all the love and light from everyone that attended my opening reception @thegalleriesatmoore last night. Thanks to the amazing @erica.battle.projects for helping me piece my artworks together that span my 25 plus years working as an artist and building with community. @moorecollegeart is a part of my formative years. I attended the Young Artist Workshop as a teenager and then as an undergrad creating my artistic path. I am grateful to the Moore community for opening this space for my work to be seen and valued. My former Moore professors and friends, Tendai Johnson @tendai_johnson and Maryanne Krutsick celebrated with me. As a first gen college student they understood my immigrant and cultural experience. They saw and believed in my potential. Cultural leaders, @janegoldenmuralarts @johnnyirizarryal @bethfeldmanbrandt Carmen Febo @marangelimr @melishhhhhhh @bernsgrrl @tiffanytavarez and so many more showed up last night. I have learned so much from them as leaders that continue to support artists in our city. So great to see many collaborators and artists last night too! @julialopez1 @madeleine.s.smith @jmaz79 @derek_james_weston @rjrushmore Thanks to @elrompecorazones_oficial from bringing a piece of Colombia to us with their music, and @casamexicophilly and my mother’s empanadas for the delicious food too. I felt all the love from my people, and for that I am deeply grateful. Los amo! #philadelphia #storiesofus #artist by @moorecollegeart
'Stories of Us' opens in just one week! Michelle Angela Ortiz's (Moore alum, class of 2000) mid-career retrospective takes over 5 galleries—nearly 7,000 square feet—and features mural process artifacts, a to-scale reproduction of a monumental mural, original paintings, video installations, and so much more. The colorful site-specific exhibition design celebrates Ortiz’s 25 years as a Philadelphia-based artist whose practice centers community and culture. Seen here: Moore illustration students @ottistry and @jaduhlam assist @michelleangelaortiz and our gallery team in bringing this show to life. Our spaces are being totally transformed and the collaborative efforts are monumental in their own rights. Thanks to all who are making it happen! Join us for the opening reception from 5:30-7:30 pm on Friday, October 9. RSVP at link in bio! by @moorecollegeart
