There's been plenty happening behind the scenes in our Junior Play Area, and we're delighted with how the improvements are taking shape.

Unfortunately, the work has taken a little longer than expected, so the play area won't be reopening this weekend as planned. We're hopeful it'll be ready soon, but we'll share another update once we have a confirmed opening date.

Looking for a creative activity this October Half Term? Join us in Ranger Den for two fun-filled craft workshops 💚

🕒 Wall Clock Creation
Design and create your own clock, including a working mechanism, to celebrate the clocks going back for Autumn.

Our day at @moorsvalley Country Park 😍 and here’s what you need to know…

Parking for 5+ hours is £17 (we were there for 6.5)

Mini Land Rovers are only open on the weekends and during Dorset school holidays for ages 3-10. Price is £9 for 2 laps (and we paid £15 for 4 laps). Experience includes a tunnel, see saw bridge, water and bumps

The steam train runs really regularly, return tickets are £5.95 for an adult and £4.20 for a child. I’d say the return is worth it but if you want the walk, do a single trip from Lakeside to Kingsmere

There were lots of cute Halloween themed biscuits to choose from and the Barn Cafe had a lot more cake options too. The ice cream kiosk next to the visitor centre has SO MANY ice cream flavours to choose from. We added sprinkles and it cost £4.45

The play trail is free. If you have a walk-shy toddler, I’d highly recommend a balance bike or something, just make sure it’s okay for off-roading as the path can be a little uneven and bumpy at times

We had a great day and can’t wait to go back! Next time we’re planning to hire bikes and explore more of the forest 🌳😍

A little New Forest gem we’d definitely go back to. 🌲

We spent the day at @moorsvalley with the kids, starting with a ride on the steam train before heading over to Adventure Valley for the Classic favourite, Land Rovers!

And the playground? A serious win. Big enough to keep the kids entertained while we could actually sit back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Steam trains, woodland, fresh air, adventure playgrounds and that beautiful New Forest setting , basically the perfect combination for a day with these little South Africans! 🐾

One to save for your next New Forest trip.

📢 Planned Closure Notice

Due to a planned local power outage, Moors Valley will be closed on Tuesday 13 October 2026.

The car park, Visitor Centre, all onsite concessions and facilities will remain closed until the power is restored. We also have no access to our phone lines during this time.

We hope to reopen some facilities later in the day on Tuesday 13 October 2026, which will include access to the car park, Visitor Centre and trails. Limited grab-and-go refreshments will be available from The Barn Café.

Otherwise, Moors Valley will be open as normal from 8am on Wednesday 14 October 2026.

Updates will be communicated via our social media channels and on our website once power is restored ✨

🔍 Ranger-approved and detective-ready

Our rangers have been putting their detective skills to the test, following clues, checking the evidence and trying to crack The Great Halloween Mystery... but we're not sure they can solve it alone 👀🎃

The Giant Halloween Pumpkin is still missing, and we need more agents on the case.

Do you LOVE Halloween? 🎃🧙‍♀️

@moorsvalley is always a fab day out but throughout October they are offering yet another fantastic trail!

Follow the pumpkins, follow the clues, collect evidence and decode a secret message!

Just £3.50 for a pack which includes a spy pen and other little bits!!

The kids loved doing this one, an absolutely beautiful walk aswell with lots to keep the children entertained!

We also visited the cafe where the food is amazing and the portions are massive! Staff are so on hand and helpful. The menu is so wide and the snacks and cakes looked divine!

And if that still wasn't enough the kids still had heaps of energy left over so we went to do the fantastic play trail that NEVER gets old!

Always THE BEST days out.
