🌿 My first blog post is live! 🌿

In “Meet Your New Assistant Ranger: My Journey into Conservation”, I share my story from volunteering on Brownsea Island and studying Countryside Management at Kingston Maurward College to securing my dream job as an Assistant Ranger at Moors Valley Country Park, Dorset.

I also share some advice for anyone looking to start their own journey into conservation and the countryside sector.

🚂 Swanage Railway Ghost Train
Spooky train rides, Halloween surprises and extra activities for the kids! Running 30th & 31st October. 👻

✨ Moors Valley Illuminated Trail
A magical (and totally spooky) woodland trail after dark, packed with incredible lights and themed Halloween scenes. Running 23rd October until 1st November. 🎃🌲

We had such a brilliant time at both last year and would absolutely recommend them for a fun family day out!

My final installment of recommendations for Halloween events and activities is here, with this post focusing on Halloween spooky (or not so scary!) trails. If your looking for low cost or even free activities this half term, then a family trail is the perfect choice, and there are some amazing options this Halloween

An autumn family adventure… after dark 🌙🌲

We’ve done Go Ape in both daytime and nighttime, and my girls would choose after dark! The lights through the trees make it such a cool setting for the crossings and zip lines—and you can still see what you’re doing ✨

My daughters are 8 and 10, with very different confidence levels 😂 My eldest is fearless and was so fast round the course. I stayed with my youngest, who likes to take her time, so she features most in this Reel! She gave everything a go and did so well ❤️

Both loved the higher courses best. At the site we visited, there was a higher zip line course and another with trickier crossings, plus two lower courses for children wanting to build their confidence.

💡 If your child is unsure about a crossing, ask an instructor what help is possible. Where permitted, my youngest likes to sit into her harness and glide across some single-line crossings.

📅 Sundown Adventures runs on selected dates from 16 October–8 November 2026.

📍 At 24 Go Ape locations across the UK, including Southampton, Alice Holt, Bracknell, Black Park, Alexandra Palace, Coventry, Cannock Chase, Delamere Forest, Sherwood Pines and Dalkeith Edinburgh.

🌲 Ages 6+ and minimum height 1.2m. Check your chosen location for available sessions, course layouts and supervision requirements.

AD | ✨What an adventurous evening we had @goapetribe and their Private Event of Sundown Adventures! ✨

Definitely a Family Adventure next level: going ape after the sun is down and the parc is covered in fairy lights and gets all magical and colourful. 🐒🐒

Our day at @moorsvalley Country Park 😍 and here’s what you need to know…

Parking for 5+ hours is £17 (we were there for 6.5)

Mini Land Rovers are only open on the weekends and during Dorset school holidays for ages 3-10. Price is £9 for 2 laps (and we paid £15 for 4 laps). Experience includes a tunnel, see saw bridge, water and bumps

The steam train runs really regularly, return tickets are £5.95 for an adult and £4.20 for a child. I’d say the return is worth it but if you want the walk, do a single trip from Lakeside to Kingsmere

There were lots of cute Halloween themed biscuits to choose from and the Barn Cafe had a lot more cake options too. The ice cream kiosk next to the visitor centre has SO MANY ice cream flavours to choose from. We added sprinkles and it cost £4.45

The play trail is free. If you have a walk-shy toddler, I’d highly recommend a balance bike or something, just make sure it’s okay for off-roading as the path can be a little uneven and bumpy at times

We had a great day and can’t wait to go back! Next time we’re planning to hire bikes and explore more of the forest 🌳😍
