We’re always looking for better ways to do things and the right kit makes a difference.

We’ve switched to MOREE reusable coffee bags for the coffee we carry on our trucks and for our wholesale customers.

MOREE bags are rugged, reusable and properly up to the job, keeping our coffee fresh and protected when being loaded into Defenders, taken to events and used day in, day out by the businesses we work with.

It’s a small change that makes a real difference to the amount of packaging we use, and one we can now pass on to our wholesale partners too.

Yesterday we attended Ljubljana Coffee Festival! Taja's first coffee festival ever, Dejan's not so much :) Here are some of her favourite moments >

Miloš from @melocoffeeroasters presented their blends and taught me about different fermentation and heating processes

One of their blends is co-fermented with pineapple!

Met Luka from @banibeans , we filmed our promotional video at their place. Love to see young roasters from my home country running their own roastery

Loved their Colombian blend!

For me, Karlo from @four_wheel_coffee_roasters and Sabin from @malaprazarna are basically the souls of this festival. Loved your positive energy and so grateful for your support! :)

Every bag of Rockhopper Roaster coffee has been through one pair of hands. Kate selects it, roasts it, bags it, and ships it herself, running a retail and wholesale operation from Littlehampton, on the Sussex coast. And if a label looks a little wonky, that's a good sign: it means her wife jumped in to help on a busy day.

Kate spent years moving between coffee retail and specialty coffee before starting Rockhopper, watching two worlds struggle to talk to each other: an industry getting more complex by the year, and home drinkers who wanted a great cup but didn't know where to begin. She started the roastery to close that gap, pairing real specialty knowledge with tips that actually work in a home kitchen.

Catch her this Saturday at the East Preston Food and Drink Festival, Village Green, 12:00–17:00.

She went to Colombia to learn about beans and came back needing to talk about people.

Dora had spent time on farms, walking rows of coffee trees with growers who process every batch by hand, whose names rarely make it past a label. What she saw stuck: beans that deliver either a funky, distinctive flavour or a classic, sweet, chocolatey one, all of it built by farmers holding a role nobody bothered to write into the story. So she gave them one.

She opened La Tostadora, "the roaster girl." It's a roastery and coffee shop on Poyser Street, part production floor, part living room, where visitors are as likely to be working on a laptop as sinking into the sofa with a flat white. Dora and her team roast, supply wholesale and white label for other brands, and run trainings that go from a first-timer's Coffee Enthusiast Workshop through to a full Introduction to Roasting, one on one or in groups, each one customised to the person's knowledge level and interest.

Ask her what she's building and she'll skip the pitch: fairer coffee starts with naming names.

Open Tuesday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, Saturday 9am to 4:30pm, Sunday 9am to 4pm. Closed Mondays.
