A beautiful, poignant exhibition by @yuwenwuart at @nunufineart culminated in a heartwarming reunion with @morgan__art and @ffawo
Last spring, we invited @yuwenwuart into the @prattfineart community as an artist-in-residence. In turn, Yu-Wen graciously and generously invited us into her studio and practices, culminating in a hands-on workshop, in which some of the work made by the MFA students reappears in this extraordinarily moving show. It is not to be missed, so be sure to experience it yourself! Grateful for this touching and uplifting experience, and a resounding congratulations to @yuwenwuart 💖✨ taken in Nunu Fine Art by @morgan__art

After two years in Brooklyn, I got to spend the summer walking along the beach and reconnecting with the ocean. Now I can bring the beach with me wherever I go.

Eye of a Hurricane, listen to yourself churn, Oil on Panel (tondo), 48 inch Diameter

Water is my lens. I am drawn to its many contradictions— how it heals and harms, holds boundaries and dissolves them, clarifies and obscures. My years studying environmental processes and working inside the energy industry have put me in unsettling intimacy with the very systems I am complicit in destroying. That tension floats unresolved in this work, as I paint from just below the ocean’s surface, where the threshold between air and water distorts everything around it—where sky becomes liquid and form surrenders its edges. This space envelops the viewer in ecological grief and disorienting culpability while occasionally opening into clarity. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @morgan__art

So you think you can tell, Oil on Panel, 88 X 66 inches

I’ve been contemplating disconnection in many forms - our mind/body, between one another, and with nature - while acknowledging its toll.

HUGE thank you to @just.a.thaddeus and @cverstegen for teaching me how to make wood that ripples. Thank you to @hopfroggowanus for the guidance throughout the thesis process.

Thank you to everybody who came to see Ghost Light, curated by @alessandrrraaa (closing May 8th). Pratt’s MFA program allowed me to experiment, and my thesis feels like an honest culmination of those many experiments and lessons learned along the way.
