A beautiful, poignant exhibition by @yuwenwuart at @nunufineart culminated in a heartwarming reunion with @morgan__art and @ffawo
Last spring, we invited @yuwenwuart into the @prattfineart community as an artist-in-residence. In turn, Yu-Wen graciously and generously invited us into her studio and practices, culminating in a hands-on workshop, in which some of the work made by the MFA students reappears in this extraordinarily moving show. It is not to be missed, so be sure to experience it yourself! Grateful for this touching and uplifting experience, and a resounding congratulations to @yuwenwuart 💖✨

MORGAN O’CONNELL
Who set the world on fire?
It was me, I set the world on fire
34 x 34 inches

Morgan O’Connell (b. 1995, Boston, MA) is a Brooklyn-based painter whose work explores humanity’s evolving relationship with nature through water, ecological complexity, and shifting boundaries between the visible and obscured.

Her work has been exhibited and collected by institutions including the Nurture Nature Center and Lafayette College, with commissioned projects in public and commercial spaces across Massachusetts. O’Connell holds degrees in Art and Environmental Studies from Lafayette College and an MFA from Pratt Institute. She is a recipient of the Vivian B. Noblett Prize.

Drawing from her background in environmental studies and renewable energy, O’Connell uses water as a lens to examine ecological grief, human culpability, and a changing environment. Her paintings place viewers beneath the ocean’s surface, where sky becomes liquid and forms dissolve, creating a space between clarity and disorientation.

The IW Gallery presents the group exhibition, Elemental Effervescence curated by Yasmeen Abdallah.

This exhibition traverses across the expanses of the natural and manmade world, where we hold space for deep reflection. Aligned in a quest to engage through heartened investigations, processes that mine materiality, existentialism, and place-making bridge a collective consciousness of a world inhabited in the present moment. Each of the fifteen Pratt alumni in Elemental Effervescence succinctly bend, shift, and sway the world in majestic and sublime ways, demonstrating how artists strengthen societies through deeply empathic work.
