The cathartic feeling of vocalizing a emotion.

I am currently becoming more comfortable with allowing myself to outwardly express the feelings that bubble up inside when I want something that is barley out of reach. Learning how to redirect the nervous feelings of wanting to send into a mental state of gratitude and focus that cultivates power instead of fear.

And last “Spirit Fingers” a silly nickname I have given myself in my current climbing journey. Because I’m 5’2” with fingers that are reluctant to fail and are often desperately trying to inch their way just a little closer to a hold in hopes of latching onto something. I’m learning that the most special moments are held in the journey to sending harder grades and not always the final send. Because when everything finally aligns and all the moves feel right I am often left standing at the top of a boulder happy but also bewildered because that long journey has ended in a abrupt 1-2 minutes and it is now time to grow into a new one.

Grateful for the deep breaths and humble reminders climbing forces me to take and listen to.

Yesterday I got to watch a baby eat a banana for the first time.

Mind you I don’t like babies…

But I was filled with so much joy to be part of that experience!

While admiring this little ball of human, I was also brought to tears. Because I know that they will grow up in a society that continuously reinforces that our bodies are not our own.

So…
to counteract this dread I feel for the youngsters in this world and to keep myself from crying at inappropriate times…..

I find SO MUCH joy when I’m outdoors. I continue to feel grateful for all the beautiful humans who want to play and adventure outside as much as I do. For me each transition to a new place is a chance to enjoy the little things that may have become mundane. It also helps that I think I’m very funny and laugh at my own jokes. Helps me not get too lonely.
