THE ROSE THAT GREW FROM CONCRETE
at @museo.santorsola in Florence 🌞💫
curated by Morgane Lucquet Laforgue

"The works created for Sant'Orsola form an ensemble centered around the still life, the edible, and shared moments at Sant'Orsola, which I documented last March. Two techniques, painting and scagliola, will enter into a dialogue within the same space. I had the chance to work with Atelier Bianco Bianchi in Florence. Scagliola inherently plays with trompe l'oeil, and it was important for me to remain within this idea of the lure, of a form of deception. I think one will have to ‘force the gaze’ to discern the passage from one technique to the other. My painting, with its thick, material quality, stands in opposition to the perfect smoothness of the scagliola. And yet, there are recurrences of motifs—the orange, the bread, the concrete of Sant'Orsola..."

Museo Sant’Orsola, ex convento di Sant’Orsola
Via Guelfa, 21 Firenze/ Florence

until 04.01.2026

With Chiara Bettazzi, Bianco Bianchi Scagliola, Mireille Blanc, Bianca Bondi, Davidovici & Ctiborsky, Marion Flament, Federico Gori, Beate Höing, Flora Moscovici, Chris Oh, Elise Peroi, Clara Rivault, Shubha Taparia

a huge thank you to @morgane_laforgue @museo.santorsola and the entire team, Atelier @biancobianchi and to @klausdrum88
