→ ok, ok, I get the hype! Drinking the Kool-Aid. 🧃 Pretty sure everyone and their cat have heard of this series by now.

•Several People Are Typing
→ love a bit of satire & a silly concept. Protagonist’s mind gets trapped inside Slack and still has to navigate his 9-5. Corporate world with ✨drama✨

•Is This A Cry For Help?
→ emotional, philosophical, & stacked with important conversations touching on mental health, grief, social justice, and the amazing place that is the library 📚

➡️ Swipe for a couple current reads & some October tbr hopefuls (racing against library loan time might help keep me in check… we will see) by @morgisbooked

The latest release from R. F. Kuang! I’m excited to see how the story examines themes of language, communication, and grief.

Thanks to wordfest for the opportunity to hear more about how this novel came to be! (And ofc excited for signed copies.) by @morgisbooked

Heartstopper Vol. 4-6:
By Alice Oseman

MY JOURNEY

Volume 4 : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
— This is definitely the volume that hit closest to home for me but every sensitive topic was handled with such care.

Volume 5 : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
— This one felt a little bit like the main goal was to bridge the storylines more so than focus on its own as much? That was my only critique though.

Volume 6 : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
— What an excellent final volume! I teared up by the end. Definitely recommend this series (especially now that there’s no long wait between releases) to anyone wanting a little heartwarming graphic novel journey. by @morgisbooked

February was the month of finally getting my reading momentum back! I’m mood-reading too many books at once as always, but here are some quick thoughts on the seven I finished this month.

I also took the time to inventory all of the physical books I own 🫣 & one of my first missions is to get through a backlog of unread poetry collections that have been collecting dust.

I had a RANGE of star ratings this month as well… started out really rough with a rare one star but we brought it back with the first five star of the year in the end. 🌟

♡ Top 3 of 2025 ♡

🥇If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia
⟢ this is a with-the-heart winner for me this year. I struggled to put it down and adored every page. What more could you want from a rom-com?

🥈The Compound by Aisling Rawle
⟢ a total fever dream and blending of genres, which I’m a bit of a sucker for.

🥉The Reformatory by Tananarive Due
⟢ the combination of fiction with true horrors from history will always hit hard, especially when the story and writing are so expertly crafted. by @morgisbooked

A new favourite dark romance 🖤

I find this genre to be a bit hit or miss for me so far, but I think this concept was executed surprisingly well.

I loved Jennifer Hartmann’s writing so much! The way she managed to set the scene and show the main characters’ emotions in a credible way despite the complex plot really impressed me.

Trigger warnings are worth checking, but I personally think the difficult events and topics included were handled with care. by @morgisbooked

Weird. Unlikeable main characters. But a vibe nonetheless 🤷🏼‍♀️

A portrayal of two women living different lives that still overlap in their frustration with the mundane and difficulties in adulthood.

I would say this one is an acquired taste, but as you get into the rhythm of the novel you can find some catharsis in the absurdity and humour.

If you’re a lit fic girl who enjoys the humour of curb your enthusiasm… then strong recommend 👌🏻 by @morgisbooked

This Summer Will Be Different
>> Loooved this one! The setting was unmatched, the chemistry was great, and the third act conflict wasn’t annoying. Pick this one up if you are overworked and tired and want to be whisked away to a magical PEI 🌊🤍

Meet Me at the Lake
>> Not my favourite of her books so far. I liked the general premise but some of the writing felt overworked and the story didn’t flow as seamlessly as her other works.

Every Summer After
>> A wonderful debut novel with an engaging summer-filled plot. Definitely has some vibes that overlap with This Summer I Turned Pretty if you’ve also enjoyed those books/show! by @morgisbooked
