New! Map of Hyattsville.

Around Monday it hit me that I was about to do an art market outside of DC, but that pretty much all my inventory was for it. "Hello Hyattsville, ya'll love this other city right?" felt like the wrong foot to jump off of... so over the course of four evenings I tried to merge a standard map with the sketchbook collages I've been doing.

Wednesday I metro'd up to Hyattsville and biked around the town to see what I could illo. Shout out to the folks at @mydeadauntsbooks (eclectic book/vinyl/ knick-knacks store of your dreams) and @greenowldesign who offered some insights on the town's fame/favorites and vibe.

Perfectionist in me wants this to be more polished, lord knows it slipped my mind to include a reference to the Hyattsville Arts Supply, but ultimately glad this exists – nothing quite like the surprise on people's faces and wide smiles as it caught their eye at the festival.

Which, speaking of, what a delightful art festival they host! Impeccable vibes (New Orlean's brass band be still my heart), cheery crowd, and a whole slew of really great artisans from *all over* the place.

Time to take a breather and only do *one* job for a short bit before... 🎅?? by @moriartymaps

Missed the art walk? Good news! I'm setting shop up again this *Saturday* at the @hyattsvillearts festival. Will be peddling maps conveniently right across from the beer garden!

New illustrated map! Paying tribute to Dupont Circle, one of DC's oldest social hubs.

This one started as a sketch during one of @paulglenshaw's classes (last image), and the design was just too charming not to realize.

The park is defined by the canopy of old mighty trees, the constant stream of people gathering, reading, or picnicking below, and the marble fountain that centers it.

While that originally was a statue of Samuel Francis Du Pont (spot him enjoying his namesake park in the right corner), that got swapped out with one that is more romantic – three figures of the Sky, Water, and Wind.

Park is many things: The kick off of DC's pride, a historic rallying point for LGBTQ+ over the years. The wheels out location of @dcbikeparty. A farmers market. A failed transit tunnel turned art performance space and gallery.

Tried to capture as much of those energies as I could for this!

Have plans this weekend? Sure you do!

Myself and a hundred or so artists in Capitol Hill will be selling out of stoops, backyards, and you, yes you, can come and enjoy the wares.

I'll be selling my usual maps, but behold! I'll have TWO new big prints available. How exciting.

Will set up shop between noon and 4p, in the yard at 301 4th St SE.

Ahoy!

I'm visiting Iceland *next week*! Will be doing sketches of the trip, and have a rough itinerary.

Would love to hear recommendations for must-see's, must-hikes, and especially if anyone knows of any Icelandic cartos or artists that might want to meet up!

Sad to be missing the one drink n' draw I was able to find in Reykjavik.

Ahoy!

I'll be taking part in the @dcmakersguild inaugural extravaganza **this Sunday!**

Event will have interactive workshops, music, a beer garden, and a whole slew of other creatives in town peddling their wares too. Check their instagram for a preview of the masters of pottery, embroidery, ceramics, and art prints other locals will be offering.

Event's located over at Bridge District right across the street from beautiful Anacostia Park what a great way to spend a Sunday, yep yep.

New map!

Lived next to @crispusattucksparkdc for a few years and still miss the space being so near. One of DC's many hidden gardens, it's just the loveliest open space that's always full of folks walking dogs, reading books, or just meandering outdoors.

Adding photos here from initial sketches to finished piece – which I made prints of and sold at Bloomingdale's Community Day market held at the park. Even auctioned off the original at the market!

If anyone's interested in a print, just reach out. This is also the first time I've had a printer that can do quality 11x17 prints at home, and boy does that feel great. (I say, prior to needing to buy new ink cartridges).
