Hè! Warm Pacific Greetings from New York!! ❤️

Hè is the traditional greeting of the Lenape people who are the traditional stewards of New York.

Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited was represented by PCBL CEO Natasha Meleisea, Chief of Content (Acting) Nicole Rex, along with, Descendants of Niue producer Sandra Kailahi, and A Dollar to Dream producer Abba-Rose Vaiaoga-Ioasa to Pacific Islands Film Festival.

The opening night was opened with a traditional Lenape welcome by George Stonefish, Lenape elder. And Stacey sharing about how Pacific Island Film Festival started and the journey over the 4 years.

After the screening, Descendants of Niue producer Sandra Kailahi, and A Dollar to Dream producer Abba-Rose Vaiaoga-Ioasa took part in a Q&A panel facilitated by Stacey.

Our Chief of Content (Acting) Nicole Rex got the opportunity to share about Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited PCBL and Pasifika on Air.

And the night closing with a celebration and talanoa serenaded by Keilana.

As you all know, Hawaiʻi has faced back-to-back climate disasters in recent years—from the 2023 Lahaina fires to Kona low floods to consecutive major hurricanes. So seeing young people from our small island homes show up in massive places like New York Climate Week, despite all the devastation, brings a unique kind of perspective. They are protecting the places that raised them, demanding accountability, and proving that small islands hold powerful solutions. I’ve been so excited to celebrate my 37th all week …Then I realized I already did that last year.

This year has been wonderful, hard, fun, funny, exhausting, blessed, full of adventure, full of growing pains, made new friends, wished I had more time with old ones, made a bunch of mistakes, matured in ways I didn’t expect, …more than anything this year has reminded me to be extremely grateful for the life I’ve been given. I’m so thankful for every laugh, tear, and everything in between.

And that’s a wrap! Two events in one day! Starting at AMC Lincoln Square 13 with our very first Climate Week screening! Remathau: People of the Ocean and Te Ara: The Path screened with Q&A with Dan and Anne from Remanthau, and principal Holly of Te Ara.
Then a quick change to the Ascent Lounge, for the closing Change Makers Talks with ICAN and Awards where 7 awardees went homes with some serious hardware from Native Woodworks. by @morningswithmya
