For Doble Erre, the curtain becomes an architectural element rather than a simple enclosure.

A continuous rail system allows the space to shift between different configurations: completely open, partially divided, or fully enclosed. Two types of industrial PVC curtain, translucent and opaque, create different degrees of visibility, light and privacy while maintaining the raw character of the existing space.

Rather than fixing a permanent boundary, the system allows the architecture to change according to how the space is being used.

This is where @doble__erre_ creative space operates.

On Saturday 27 June we opened the doors for the launch of @ode_objects — a project we've been quietly building inside the studio for a while now.

Objects made from the same machines, the same research, the same hands that make everything else here. Just closer to the everyday.

Thank you to everyone who came, stayed, and made it feel like something.
We presented 10 vase and 2 cup designs from our first collection; all available on the website and in the studio.

The installation we built for the occasion stays up until the end of August. If you want to visit, send us a message.

@ode_objects is a project ran by our studio members @_gamzeyalcin_ @aquilesjarrin @irenemolina_ & @rivadeneira____

For this project, we started from an industrial warehouse in Madrid and chose not to erase its origin: the exposed concrete and whitewashed brick remain as structural memory of the place, while the new program is inserted without imposing itself over them.

Stainless steel becomes the protagonist material, a continuous counter that runs through the kitchen and living area, defining the path and scale of the space. Its coldness is balanced by vegetation and ceramic objects, which bring a warm, organic touch.

Light enters from one side, from a patio that used to remain closed off, and filters through to the gallery area through a translucent curtain that replaces the conventional enclosure, blurring the line between interior and exterior. The result is a space that keeps its industrial character but is inhabited with softness.

This is where @doble__erre_ creative space operates.

How can spatial design hold space for change instead of settling into one fixed form?

This project transforms an industrial warehouse in Madrid into a porous ecosystem where art, fabrication and everyday life sit side by side.

White walls, exposed concrete and a sliding curtain let the same room become a workshop, a kitchen table or an exhibition space, shifting slowly, without forcing it. Glass openings open onto the courtyard, bringing in light and plants as part of the space.

It stays open ended on purpose, ready to take on new uses over time.

Today it functions as the creative studio @doble__erre_ .

The materials in Doble Erre tell the story of the place without ornament.

The original brick envelope remains visible at the entrance, bearing the memory of the industrial space above. Inside, exposed concrete coexists with white painted brick ceilings, polished cement floors, and metal joinery that is part of the intervention language.

The only warm contrast is wood. It appears in the rest capsule, in the bathroom details, and in the interior partitions, as a refuge within the industrial coldness of the ensemble. Every material is there because it has something to say about how that space is used.

Today, the space operates as the home of @doble__erre_ , @rivadeneira____ project ‘s conceived as a platform for contemporary practices connected to art, design and technology.

How to inhabit ambiguity as a form of potential?

The project consisted in the transformation of a former industrial cold-storage warehouse in Madrid into a hybrid infrastructure for art, design and technology.

Rather than erasing the existing architecture, the intervention works through reprogramming: reflective surfaces, metal meshes, exposed industrial textures and diagonal spatial gestures reorganise the warehouse into a flexible environment for production, exhibitions, fabrication and collective use.

One of the central operations was the opening of the interior façade towards a large courtyard, allowing light, air and circulation to move transversally through the space. What was once a sealed chamber becomes an active platform where workshop, showroom and production processes coexist without rigid boundaries.

Today, the space operates as the home of @doble__erre_ , @rivadeneira____ project ‘s conceived as a platform for contemporary practices connected to art, design and technology.

The intervention focuses on resolving the space through a single constructed element that is repeated. This thin metal component cuts diagonally across the volume, disrupting the original orthogonal condition and reorganizing the space through a new logic of levels.

Despite its formal lightness, the element provides structural resistance and operates simultaneously as support, furniture, and storage system. Its repetition allows for the articulation of divisions without full compartmentalization, the construction of inhabitable platforms, and the resolution of practical needs of use and storage.

By operating through ambiguity rather than fixed function, the system enables multiple modes of occupation and a more open use of the space. Rather than an isolated object, it is a single element deployed in different configurations, capable of adapting to diverse domestic situations.

The Forest is an architectural intervention that works on the existing domestic space through operations on structure, materiality, and environment, understanding the home as a continuous system rather than a collection of independent rooms.

From this operation, domestic space moves away from a disciplinary logic based on the strict separation of uses. The project proposes a freer and more organic organization, where the garden, water, and living area function as a single environmental system, allowing activities to overlap without rigid hierarchies.

At the center of the living space sits a water basin, built using the same material and structural logic as the rest of the project and directly connected to the interior garden. This element acts as a spatial organizer, redefining circulation and modes of inhabitation, and generating a space that can operate both socially and contemplatively.

Natural light entering from the exterior reinforces this continuity, expanding the perception of the interior space and consolidating a less normative and more adaptable form of domesticity.

THE FOREST

The Forest is not an interior in the conventional sense.
It is a continuous spatial situation.

The existing structure is left exposed. Concrete, columns, slabs and imperfections remain visible, not as background but as active elements. Nothing is hidden. Nothing is corrected.

A single dark platform reorganizes the apartment, introducing subtle changes in level that define how the space is used and crossed. There are no rooms in the traditional sense, only zones that appear through movement, light and time.

Living here means inhabiting the structure itself.

For Forest, the project was conceived around a clear spatial strategy: the removal of preexisting interior partitions to recover the original structural reading and reorganize the apartment as a continuous system.

The reinforced concrete structure remains exposed as both structural support and material memory of the building. Onto it, autonomous black steel platforms and volumes are inserted, concentrating specific programs without altering the existing structural logic. These elements operate as habitable architecture and spatial articulation devices.

Voids, interior patios, and transparencies allow daylight to enter, enable cross ventilation, and establish a constant relationship between interior and exterior, integrating vegetation as an active component of the spatial system.

The intervención transformed a 1970s apartment in the Historic Center of Quito into an interior landscape. By removing all predefined divisions, the project reimagines domestic space as a continuous ecosystem where structure, light, materiality, and vegetation coexist without hierarchy.

Within this landscape, the kitchen operates as a clearing in the forest. Rather than a service space, it becomes a central territory for encounter and everyday rituals. A monolithic black metal volume anchors the space, functioning as kitchen, bar, storage, and spatial threshold, in contrast with the exposed concrete columns, brick walls, and plants.

As walls disappear, columns are reimagined as tree trunks, activating the core metaphor of the project. The kitchen is not isolated but embedded within a living domestic ecosystem where cooking, observing, and sharing overlap.

The Forest is structured around a single constructed element that cuts diagonally through the square plan.
This thin, folded metal system operates simultaneously as structure, shelf, divider, storage, bench, and pathway.#
Its reduced thickness provides structural resistance while maintaining visual lightness, allowing the space to remain open, continuous, and porous.

Rather than assigning fixed functions, the repeated element introduces an improvised logic of use.
Domestic life unfolds without hierarchies, where circulation, storage, rest, and display overlap and adapt over time.
The same element, placed and repeated in different positions, organizes levels and spatial relationships while leaving room for interpretation and creativity.

Architecture here does not prescribe behavior.
It establishes a flexible framework where ambiguity becomes a resource and inhabitation remains open.
