HELLBOY II Watercolor and Colored Pencils on Rosaespina 2026 For this second fan art, Hellboy visits my favorite sculptures for their monumentality, ornamentation, and enormous weapons, like true guardians: the Atlanteans of Tula. For this painting, I experimented with a way of using watercolors that I hadn’t tried before, starting with various shades of blue for the shadows and then layering the colors without much mixing. Thank you so much for checking it out! Let me know what you think or what other character you’d like me to experiment with. The original painting is available for purchase, or let me know if you’d like to see it as a print! 🫰🏾✨ . . . #hellboy #hellboyart #painting #sketchbook taken in Mexico City, Mexico by @mortlicue

HELLBOY I 👺 Watercolor on Rosaespina paper 2026 Since last year, when I picked up reading my favorite comics again, I started some sketches for a Hellboy miniseries, wondering what would happen if he were investigating in Mexico and was bewitched by one of my favorite Mexica gods: Mictlantecuhtli 💀✨ I’m very happy with the result because I feel that during all this time that I couldn’t paint them, with the help of my friends, I was learning new techniques and tricks for colors, composition, and painting that helped me solve it much better than a year ago.🏃🏾‍♂️ Here are some photos I took during the process. Thank you so much for checking it out. Let me know what you think or what other character you’d like me to experiment with. 👀🔥 The original painting is available for purchase, or let me know if you’d like to see it in some prints! VIENTRE 💀✨ Gouache on Fabriano This year being the first time I’ve experienced such a close loss, this piece is inspired by all the feelings, dreams, and acceptances that have been part of this whole process. Symbolizing: the eternal presence, the internal dialogue with something as inevitable and often incomprehensible as death. Using red to represent that sharp sensation, which, although with the passage of time it may become bearable and even calm, can always return to hurt, an attempt to express the understanding and acceptance of its eternal presence. . . #gouachepaintings #gouache #exhibition #paintingprocess #gouacheartwork taken in Mexico City, Mexico by @mortlicue

VIENTRE STUDIES 📿✨ Last year I focused on practicing with graphite, and some of the results were these variations of Vientre. The idea was to solve it using only pencil and then try a gouache version, but they only ended up in graphite. I really liked the results and decided to share them here. Did you have a favorite that you would have liked to see in gouache? Let me know in a comment! The final piece and these exercises are available. Thanks for watching! DEATH IN GOUACHE 💀✨ I wanted to show you these exercises I did with gouache and a couple of colored pencils, using palettes I really like. I experimented with different colors and tried out new combinations, along with sculptures and flowers that I love to draw. Although I think I always repeat the same colors 😅 The idea this year is to vary the palettes a bit more as I better understand the use of colors and new materials ✍🏾✨ These exercises are available in my catalog of available works, which you can see in my bio :) {{}} Quería mostrarles estos ejercicios con gouache y un par de lápices de madera que hice con paletas que me gustan mucho, probando algún color distinto y así probar nuevas combinaciones junto a esculturas y flores que me gusta mucho dibujar. The year is over!! 🔪✨ Happy to see so many ideas that had been tucked away in sketchbooks finally materialize this year, and happy and grateful to learn about the patience and constant repetition that ceramics require. For the first time, we went to a convention where we did our first drop, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the support and for everyone taking home a drawing, a print, or a ceramic piece. This year I also realized that I really do love figures and comics, and I spent more time drawing and painting than in previous years. Grateful to have shared spaces, ideas, meals, and sales with amazing friends and artists. 🫂✨ Next year, I hope to bring even more new pieces, fan art, and ceramics. May your 2026 be filled with all the good things in life. Thank you so much for support me. 🫰🏾✨ taken in Mexico City, Mexico by @mortlicue

CACTÁCEA 🌵✨ I’m so happy to finally share a little spoiler of this new ceramic project: CACTACEA is a set of utilitarian objects inspired by some of my favorite Mexican cacti. See you from May 29th to June 1st at the Citibanamex Center. 📍 G3 table in the Artist’s Valley 🔵 In the coming days, I’ll be giving you a couple more sneak peeks at the new merch you can also find there.
