POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

June 1, 2016, I launched Moses Lin Music as a YouTube channel. Ten years later, it still doesn’t feel real.

Before the tuxedos, destination weddings, and awards, I had a questionable haircut and no idea what I was doing.

But I loved it. Every single year felt like the best year of my life, even the ones where I was making $250 a gig. This industry gave me a career, but more than that, it’s where I met my closest friends and found my calling.

It took an unbelievable amount of work to get here, and I wouldn’t change a single thing. Swipe through for 10 years of memories. by @moseslinmusic

Two years ago, @cnbcmakeit asked me if I had any big goals. I hesitated, but decided to announce to the whole world that my goal was to be a millionaire by 30. I fully believe if I hadn’t done that, I would’ve never reached it. I’ve always believed in setting outrageous goals and then forcing myself to make them.

Thanks @cnbc and Jennifer Liu for this follow up interview!

An intimate private dinner with @rafanellievents and @forma_mgmt at the @innatperrycabin.

The evening was built around connection, conversation and depth, so the music had to serve that, not compete with it. Elevated yet unobtrusive, giving every conversation room to breathe, and fully engaging with guests when the moment called for it.

Knowing when to dive in and when to pull back is the art of reading a room.

I spend a lot of evenings watching other people connect from behind a guitar. It was a gift to be invited to the table and be part of the conversation this time, and to hear what drives the people I work alongside.

Thank you @bryanrafanelli and @forma_mgmt for bringing us together for this Thought Leader Dinner. Insightful questions, honest sharing, and an evening that felt less like networking and more like a night with old friends.

These types of moments don’t just happen. From the moment guests arrive, I’m reading the energy of each guest, determining who would respond well to being approached and seeing what type of songs are resonating. From there, I’m crafting the set list in real time and when I see a high energy group together at cocktail hour, I drop a perfectly selected banger.

Some guests want a simple private serenade from a respectful distance and others want an epic fun moment like this. Either way, every guest gets a unique, curated experience.

It can be hard to believe what you’re seeing, and sometimes guests still think there must be other musicians hiding somewhere.

Most wedding musicians will play the melody of a song and use pre-recorded backing tracks to cover the other parts. It’s almost unheard of for a musician to replace a 4-piece band by playing the melody, chords, bass line, and the percussion simultaneously.

There’s no tracks, looping, or secret tricks to it. It’s just a guitarist playing insanely difficult songs while chatting up your guests.

A once-in-a-century event for Stanford School of Medicine. This Centennial Gala commemorated 100 years since Dr. Emile Holman brought modern surgical education to Stanford.

It was an absolute honor to perform for such a historic event. #holman100 taken in Stanford School of Medicine by @moseslinmusic
