The fastest-growing building material

The demand for renewable building materials is rising.

Sometimes faster than biobased materials can regenerate.

Moso bamboo is different.

It grows up to 1 m a day and is ready to harvest in only 5 years.

It does not cause deforestation because the plant survives after harvesting and keeps growing back.

Once harvested, it is industrially processed into high-performance, long-lasting MOSO Bamboo products.

When deciding which material to use, what is the first question that comes to mind?

Bamboo cladding next to wood

When designing the Mowgli daycare centre in Vught, Natrufied Architecture took inspiration from treehouses and the forests around the site.

Natural materials were a priority from the start.

This is why they chose MOSO Bamboo X-treme.

On the façade, it stands alongside iroko and charred wood.
On the ground, it extends around the centre as decking.

Our Thermo-Density treatment heats bamboo strips to 200°C and compresses them at high density, making the material stable and durable.

No harmful chemical additives are needed, which matters in a building where children spend their days.

🌿 Durability class 1
🌿 Up to fire class B without fire retardants
🌿 Low maintenance

Together, the cladding and decking store 9,377.94 kg of CO₂ for as long as they are in use.

Bamboo took over OCHO The Showroom
With a pioneering Madrid project at the heart of it

Last Thursday in Madrid, we teamed up with @vallsfusta and @floter_tarimas for an evening dedicated to bamboo and new ways of building.

Pablo van der Lugt, specialist in biobased construction, opened the evening with sustainability, innovation and where bamboo fits into the future of construction.

Lucía Ortiz de Galisteo López, principal architect at @batlleiroig then showed what that future looks like today with Vita Student Madrid, a student residence built with bamboo.

The room stayed full long after the last slide.

Thank you to all the architects, interior designers and professionals who joined us, and to @ochotheshowroom for welcoming us.

Missed this one? Make sure you’re there for the next.

Vakmanschap in bamboe.
