Introducing MICHÈLE MOSS

Michèle Moss is a dancer, choreographer, researcher and educator that has co-founded Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. She has found Greta pleasure in exploring the nature of jazz through performance-creation and arts-based educational research. In her diverse career in dance, she has experience with swing, salsa and house dance with her research takes the forms of creation and textual projects. Publishing her research in journals and magazines, she has also conducted ethnographic research in fields nationally and internationally.

She will be presenting “A Tight 11: dispatches from the inside” in collaboration with Kaja Irwin and Sabrina Naz Comănescu. They are celebrating connection, community cohesion and imagining a future that allows for real listening and communion. This is an opportunity to witness and to experience something that will never happen again, a one and done premiere. Kaja and Sabrina will make themselves vulnerable for the pleasure of playing at the edges of control-no control and learning from it. The audience and creatives in the theatre are in partnership as well, since they are all seeking transcendence. Michèle moss would like to thank you all in advance for allowing them to explore this state of grace.

The Moving Inspirations Dance Festival Runs from November 6-8, 2025 at the Gas Station Arts Centre. Tickets are available in our bio. Hope to see you there. by @moss1035

Founders Feature: Part 1 🎥

To celebrate 40 seasons of jazz, rhythm, and movement, we’re sitting down with the visionaries who started it all.

In this special three-part series, we spoke with DJD Co-Founders Vicki Adams Willis (our current Founder in Residence), Michèle Moss, and Hannah Stilwell to reflect on the early days, the spark that ignited this company, and the stories that shaped DJD’s roots.
Their passion laid the foundation for what has grown into one of Canada’s only professional jazz dance companies. A vibrant hub of creativity, community, and movement.

Since those early days in 1984, DJD has become a driving force in Canada’s dance scene, creating over 70 original productions, building a landmark dance centre, and inspiring thousands through performance, outreach, and education.

✨ Part 1 is live now and there’s more to come! Stay tuned!

🎟 Reminiscing in Tempo, our 40th anniversary show, runs April 24–May 11 at the DJD Dance Centre. This high-energy retrospective features audience favourites, bluesy grooves, signature pieces, and live music led by longtime DJD collaborator Kristian Alexandrov.

Join us as we honour our history and step boldly into the future.

📍 Tickets linked in bio! Don’t wait to grab yours as they are selling fast! 🤩
