On August 21, Robert S. Neuman: Expressive Roots opens at Moss Galleries in Falmouth, ME. Anchored by Neuman’s unfailingly prismatic color palette, gestural brushwork, and expansive compositions, this showing focuses on the evolution of Neuman’s approach to
abstract expressionism.

A reception will be held on Wednesday, September 9th from 5:30-7:30pm. All are welcome ❤️

“The Land Knows You” featuring the works of JoAnne Carson, Brita Holmquist, Frances Hynes, Alice Jones, and Laura Waller is on display at Moss Falmouth from October 24th through January 9th, 2027.

There will be a public opening reception October 24th from 2-4pm, all are welcome ❤️

This exhibition positions landscape painting as a reciprocal act. The artists featured do more than depict the land as they see it. Each painting centers on the artist’s relationship with the natural world around them, defined by a mutual sense of tenderness, care, and understanding.

Only two days left to see Expressive Roots at @mossgalleries!

Don't miss your chance to explore Neuman's dalliances with pure abstraction, explosive, universe-spanning compositions, moments of obsession with gesture and texture, and watch as his myriad fascinations coalesce in his confronting and masterfully composed late-career works.

Richard Keen “From Downeast With Love” is now on display through December 5th at Moss Portland 💚

Keen’s perspective is shaped by an unusual relationship to the Maine environment. As both an artist and former commercial diver, he has experienced the landscape from above and below the waterline: the familiar horizon of the coast and the submerged world of hulls, chains, moorings, rocks, currents, and shifting light. This dual vantage point gives his paintings their tension between structure and sensation, observation and abstraction. taken in Moss Galleries by @mossgalleries
