“Pietà Moderna”

This Eid Ul Fitr, I went back to finalize this piece that I first began around Christmas of last year. It seemed fitting and highlighted how in times that are both intended for holiday cheer, we see again that Palestinians are forced to celebrate under the rubble of occupation, despite living in the birthplace of much of Abrahamic religion. It has been two Ramadans, two Christmases, and two Eid Ul Fitrs now that the people of Gaza have had to endure genocide from the Israeli government, funded by the U.S.’s imperial interests. It feels at times futile to find words that have not been said before. Deplorable, inhumane, atrocious, all feel too tame to describe calamity at this scale. It’s for that reason I cannot think of anything else while taking part in festivities this day. My heart goes to all the martyrs whose spirits still float in the moonlight of the Gaza Strip. I am envisioning an Eid where a mother embraces a child who is brimming with life rather than the space they have left behind; as she does, not a single tear falls into her hands. I hope you can see her too. Eid Mubarak 🇵🇸

Genuine highlight of year attending the the Hudsen Valley Film Festival to support Sofia’s @sofi.sticate short film “Ingrato Sureño Invasor” that Randi @randellanyc, Miranda @pixie.prawn and I assisted on! Everyone was so delightful and nice, and I can’t wait to return next year :)

Huge thank you to @hudsonvalleyfilmfest for our passes, and to India @luckydogface for being such a great organizer and letting us hop aboard her car. Film forever 👽🤘
