I had the pleasure of sketching with friends yesterday. These are my pages. Struggled quite a bit, but had fun.

It was nice to sit and chat and drink coffee and not need to be anywhere. And it advanced my goal of drawing in public every day leading up to Lightbox. It takes me a while to get warmed up : )

When I’m drawing, I’m focused on performance; that’s the essence of gesture drawing.

I’m asking myself: who is this character? How do they feel? What are they thinking? Who or what are they in relationship with? What is the drama of the scene? What is the story? And crucially, critically: what are they doing?

And then I draw the answers.

My second year collaborating with the @hudsonvalleyfilmfest had more friends, aliens, and awe! Can’t believe I got to lay eyes on James Cromwell, let alone moderate him in a panel. Shepherded @sva_mfaca students. Presented @mira.seeba with the OUT OF THIS WORLD AWARD that me and @dontbsheep juried. Animators hike. Podcasted with rare proof of KIM. Submit your film next year or else you will be missing out, in case you couldn’t already tell ;)
