🍍two pineapples🍍

after Kohana fell asleep on the beach
I brought out my sketchbook & a woman
walks up to me & tells me that
my mothering is beautiful
& hands me two pineapples.

I’m grateful for the reminder
of how important and easy it is
to say the nice thing im thinking
& make small acts of kindness
to strangers and friends
as mirrors of love.

thank you to whoever you are
for helping fill my cup
may the sweet pineapple juice
continue to over floweth

🩵🤲🌊🏆🍍 🌊🤲🩵

an older sketch I came across from when I was getting in the groove for @_munamusic_ ‘s album art ~ made with homemade paints from indigo, alaea clay, and charcoal.

love this musical muse and star sister. 🌟🌊
give her sweet heart earth songs a listen 🌎🍯

My latest commission has made it to it’s home on Big Island ! 🌺

My favorite part was adding the abalone shell to this one… & It all really shines as the lighting changes throughout the day! ✨

The inspiration from my auntie for this piece:

“ life growing ever so gently
the colors of dawn
the scent of the air at dawn arriving with the first fresh morning breaths
fresh water rain and first birdsong emerging
gentle gratitude and sweetness and humbleness
Twinkling light & peace
mommys prayers “

here is a sneak peak deep zoom crop of my newest piece ~ a plant ally portrait of @_a_r_t_e_m_i_s_i_a ~
it is off to be framed for the @visionarymusecollective exhibition next month @lodostudios in Santa Barbara.

funny how painting goes from this (swipe) to a finished piece~ chaos into organization.

This piece “Desert Stars” is a part of the current show Integration at @omnihum Gallery. The show explores how we integrate and merge our visions with reality. ✨
This textured painting speaks to the aliveness of the desert in the darkness of nightfall and early starlight. The stars are descending onto the Earth giving glimpses into the presence of shimmering spirits dancing among the glowing sagebrush. ✨

This piece is for sale through Omnihum Gallery.

✨ meet @mothabug of the @visionarymusecollective ! ✨

Hi my name is Melissa, aka Mothabug. My creations are a blend of mixed media, illustration, painting, encaustics, weaving and music. I also just became a mother this year!

I am inspired by the natural world and how all of our relations are teachers and reflections of our own nature. I explore this relationship through poetic paintings and illustrations. I like to collect clays, pigments, crystals, and other pieces of the natural world to include in my mixed media pieces. I am also inspired by myth and the concept of the hero’s journey/soul’s journey that we are on in our own individual lives and how it connects us on a collective level. I create with my heart and soul and love simplicity and breathing room for personal interpretation/genius.

I am so excited to be a part of the Visionary Muses because of the incredible group of women I have had the opportunity to get to know. I love our mission to create visionary art exploring themes that feel alive in our hearts. I joined the group in 2021 and I feel like every year I am empowered and grow so much as an artist through this collective. I am so excited to share our plant ally paintings with the world in our exhibition this September!
