I was honouring my great grandfather George Pleass and his two brothers and their time in France and Belgium during the Union of South Africa's tour of the Great War. The war that was suppose to end all wars.

Showcasing our ‘game cinematic’ short:
Gods of Rust

We produced this in-between projects over a period of 2 months but started about a year or so ago.
Our team wanted to get into @unrealengine and decided we had to do something sci-fi and a bit badass.
Inspired by @lovedeathandrobots and @secretlevelonprime - we’ve had the most fun crafting a world and creating an action sequence.
We modeled our main character and did variations thereof for our soldiers. Adapted our rigs to do motion capture in our studio and brainstormed the process with a bit of an emotional pull by the end.
Our dream is to be doing more of this storytelling in 3d.

GODS OF RUST
Earth is dead. The gods that killed it are made of steel.
Following a devastating alien invasion, humanity’s last platoon of super soldiers embarks on one final mission - recover surviving reinforcements and wage a desperate assault against the colossal war machines that reduced the world to ruins. In a war already lost, their final stand is to make the gods bleed.

A short game cinematic experiment made in Unreal Engine.
VFX post in Adobe After Effects.
Editing & Sound FX in Premiere.

Farewell to the coolest vfx guy we all knew.
Always a warm spirit in the studio, holding everyone to the highest standard, Rocket was and will always be a true legend. There were times when we would walk down the street and strangers would greet him by name. You can’t get any cooler than that.
Will miss you buddy boy. RIP.

A short film proof of concept has been in production for just over a week. We travelled to a farm out in Piketberg, South Africa and shot 2 actors with a skeleton crew over a weekend.
Ambitious is an understatement as we’re recreating ‘no mans land’ in WW1.

A great experience that can’t be replicated in any other way. Enthusiastic artists coming together for a shared common goal.
