Q: Do you follow the maps while reading a fantasy?

So this weekend has been trash, I’ve been sick for most of it, missed a family picnic, haven’t done any reading, and can’t make Eid cookies🫠 Today we had an extra day off and I spent it barely leaving my room🥲 IN 30 DEGREE WEATHER💀

I do hope I will be able to go to work tomorrow, because I’m already taking Wednesday off (mostly, I couldn’t move a meeting, but it’s in the afternoon and online so it’s not too bad)

Anyway, once I have energy again I will continue with destroy the day and probably switch between my other current reads! And I need to start a new audiobook soon, haven’t listened to any in a minute.

I also need to say that my goal is 50 books this year, I have read a whopping 5 books and it’s like almost June… Help?!

Q: Do you have multiple current reads and what has been your oldest?

I’ve been reading some of these books for months if not a full year… I even started a new book this week😂 what is wrong with me??!

I’m currently reading:
Destroy the day (16%)
The vanishing cherry blossom bookshop (41%)
Sorcery of thorns (???)
Old flames and new fortunes (26%)
Debts of fire (46%)
Legendborn (50%) and I lost the marker & pen i was annotating with…

I truly don’t even know if I remember enough of these books at this point🥲 I need to get a reading routine, because I just don’t read consistently anymore and I hate it

Help.

Q: Do you read ARCs? What was your last request?

Happy release day @lorechefwrites

The lustrous dark- 4.5⭐️
I got an e-ARC for the lustrous dark and it was an amazing read! I actually have so much to say and SCREAM about, but since the book came out today I will wait with the spoiler chat until more people read it👀

There are a few things I need to really talk about and it’s so hard to find a place to start😭 The found family was done so well! The brothers, her friends, Shadi… it was just perfect🙏 this was something she needed and I am so thankful that the story really leaned into these relationships!

I also really enjoyed the midwife elements to the story, it’s not something I’ve read before so this was such a unique experience! Her relationship with Ghita was also very interesting to read! This book is full of great characters and great dynamics between them!!

The different creatures were really enjoyable to read about and I truly can’t wait for more in the sequel (how long do I have to wait?!🥲) the night hags are such interesting beings, i hope we get moree of them😭

And I was really invested in the mother/daughter dynamics in the story and how they develop. All I can say is that I was not prepared for a lot of it and it really stuck with me. The relationship between Shay and her birth mother was heavy to read, a lot happens between them and it really made me stop the book a few times.

I don’t want to go into spoilers yet, so I won’t say much. But that ending….🫠 I will need some time to recover🥲

And ofcourse, I truly loved the Moroccan influences, it’s what drew me to the book, but the story goes so much further and finds ways to surprise you🙌

Six of Crows by @lbardugo

Q:What are your weekend plans?

I was thinking of turning this into a carousel and showing all of the endpapers in one post, but I just know I want some of them on my feed, so I will post my favourites separately at some point😂

I have been in such a slump, both with reading and keeping up with posting! I also have been working on a post, that’s been taking longer than I expected (I do have a deadline for that, and I am working hard to finish it before then)

I am still reading the same books, hopefully I do finish 1 or 2 more this month! I do have some buddy reads I want to get to soon!!

Q: on a scale of 1-10… how bad is your TBR right now?👀

I saw some people make this video and I just had to make my own version (I can’t seem to find the video I originally saw, but you can find most of them through the audio)

My TBR is an issue I need to tackle💀 and I am working on it (very very slowly) and I have been sticking to my ban other than a bunch of special editions (someone needs to delete vinted of my phone to be honest)

I also sold a few books lately!! My copies of the summer I turned pretty series. The books were enjoyable, but I will most likely never reread (and if I do, it won’t be physically) and I also sold yellowface (I got that one from a goodiebag at an event) and my regular edition of spice road, I still have two special editions of it and I will maybe sell/give one away and I might keep the other?? I kinda dnfd the second book so I am tempted to give them both away😅

I have another stack to un-haul, it’s been sitting in my car and waiting for a trip to some little free libraries.

Q: Do you like to read outside?

For me this is a hit or miss, the weather has to be exactly right and I need to find a good spot to sit and read, but yeahh I love it!! This picture was from today (we ended up not even opening up our books bc of all the yapping we did😂)

I recently finished the lustrous dark and I absolutely loved it! Can’t wait to write my review for it!! And something else I’ve been working one🫣

Other current reads:
Legendborn (yes i am almost at my one year anniversary of reading this, but I am working on it🫣💀)
Sorcery of thorns
Debts of fire
Old flames and new fortunes
The vanishing cherry blossom bookshop

Oh and my friend borrowed love from a to z and I’m excited to hear her thoughts!!

Q: What series lives in your mind rent free?

The folk of the air series is one of the first series I read and finished and one I never stop thinking or talking about! The politics, the family dynamics, and the romance>>>
A reread is due😭🙌

Howw is everyone doing? I’ve had a few busy weeks, but I am finally resting and reading again!! I made a lot of progress with the lustrous dark and… I just know I’m about to be traumatised😭 I don’t know if I’m ready💀I also made some progress with debt of fire lately and I am having a good time with that one too!!

I was trying to continue sorcery of thorns today, but my kobo was giving me issues😭 I was annotating it before and noww I cannot find the right settings font again, I can’t annotate them all on the same settings and it’s killing me💀nothing worked🫠 so i might restart it (im on chapter 3 so its not tooo bad)

Q: What is a new release you can’t wait to read?

Last month the dragon and the sunlotus released and the way I will make that my personality for the next few months is something I will apologise for in advance😭

I read The scorpion and the nightblossom earlier this year and I. ATE. IT. UP. That’s exactly my kinda book, I needed more and now here she is!!! I git the @illumicrate edition of the series because they were gorgeous and I have absolutely no self control whatsoever when it comes to Illumicrate’s books🥲

If you love:
✨ Young adult fantasy series
✨ Amazing world building
✨ Romance subplot
✨ Demons are threatening the mortal world
✨ Forbidden love
✨ Tension
This series is for you!!
