For those of you heading over to the Mount Edgcumbe parkrun on Saturday morning, this will be a familiar site - the folly slope at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park (Official), what a fantastic view, especially when you make it to the top.

You may have noticed over the past few months our super skilled Maintenance Team - Bob Platts & Daren Moore have been hard at work in The Barrow Centre restoring The Old Fire Station, one of the most iconic buildings on Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.
It’s thanks to their skills, hard work and dedication that this building will be around for generations to come, ensuring more people will get to see and use this amazing space.

Isn't nature just fabulous! There's always something beautiful to see, you just need to take the time to look.

The colours in the sky are of a rare natural weather phenomenon called a fire rainbow. It's caused by the light reflecting, at just the right angle, on clouds that hold tiny ice crystals. This image of a fire rainbow was taken over looking Whitsand Bay.

Take the ferry across the Sound, explore the park on foot, stop by the beach or simply find a spot to take in the view.

🔨✨ Exciting things are happening at Mount Edgcumbe!

If you've visited Mount Edgcumbe Country Park recently, you may have spotted work underway at the historic Garden Battery. This much-loved landmark is being carefully restored as part of the Horizon programme, helping to bring an important piece of Plymouth Sound's history back to life.

Built in the 1860s to help defend Plymouth Sound, the Battery has watched over the waterfront for more than 160 years. Once restoration is complete, it will open to the public for the very first time, giving visitors a chance to explore a fascinating chapter of our maritime heritage up close.

From royal connections with Queen Victoria to its role in protecting Plymouth during both World Wars, the Garden Battery has plenty of stories to tell. Soon it will become a new space for heritage, learning, community activities and enjoying the spectacular views across Plymouth Sound.

Look twice. That isn’t an ordinary car.

Parked at the water’s edge at @mountedgcumbe , something unexpected has arrived.

It looks like a Ford Fiesta.
But look through the windows.

The first of four Intertidal cars by artist @davidcotterrell is now in position – and this one is sitting right beside the ferry landing at Mount Edgcumbe, where thousands of journeys between Plymouth and Cornwall begin and end.

Inside, something extraordinary is happening.

The car is connected to the rhythm of the tide.

As Plymouth’s tide changes, so does the water inside.

Why a Ford Fiesta?
How does it know what the tide is doing?
And what happens when you take the sea’s rhythm away from the shoreline and put it somewhere you would never expect to find it?

Where does the sea really stop?

This is Intertidal.

And this is just the first.

Four cars are now appearing at Mount Edgcumbe, @tinsidelido Mount Batten and @theboxplymouth. Go and find one. Look closely. Then come back at a different tide.

Part of Tide Together, created through Sea for Yourself – connecting people with @plymsoundnmp through art, creativity and unexpected encounters with the sea.
