One rad weekend trusting a piece of metal stuck in ice to protect complete strangers and me from raining icing fridges. Mountains are intense. People are beautiful. by @moutrom1

Sharing some pictures from my last ultra “gravel” event, the Bikingman Vercors 555. 500km in 55 hours max with 12k of climbing in between. It was more 490 and 14 but never mind, I didn’t make it igual. The last climb in the heat killed my rythm and at 430, I noticed there was no way I can cross the line before the 55 hours cutoff. I should have pushed more the night before, but when exercising 22 hours per day while sleeping just 2 hours per night, the brain is pretty fucked up. Still, at the end, it was 465km by cutting straight line to the finish, a mileage that I surely enjoyed it a lot. Nothing beats to be in its own bubble surrounded by crazy people for days. There is camaraderie, laughs, joy at the simple things, enlightening by a lot of pains. And I am also super pleased to see my body getting back to ultra after a heart surgery less than a year ago. I would encourage you to try it, despite the pain in the butt, the lumbago, and other hidden muscles you suddenly discover during the recovery. I wish to go back, I wish to train more (60k of gravel per year is definitely not enough), and I am looking at new bikes to go further and crazier. Next goals, two 50k trail races with two weeks in between. More to come! by @moutrom1
