Relief from tension, stress & overwhelm
Norwich and Online ⬇️
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Deep, effective bodywork for people who carry tension and struggle to switch off.

This isn’t a light, fluffy massage.
It’s targeted work that helps your body actually let go, and stays with you beyond the session.

Sessions are quiet, focused, and adjusted in real time based on what your body needs.

If you’re dealing with:
• tightness that keeps coming back
• stress that sits in your body
• feeling switched on all the time

This is for you.

Tuesday mornings at The Lion’s Den.
Limited spaces.

Things have been moving quite quickly for me recently, I’ve felt a bit fraught and like I’ve been slightly suspended through the last couple of weeks.

So a little TLC at TLD @thelionsdennorwich was just what the doctor ordered.

A run and sauna, and a decent chat with my good mate @ljtayler followed by a tasty breakfast.

It was grounding, and a meaningful reminder to stay connected to those who are important to me.

It was also a reminder to treat myself with kindness when things get a bit difficult.

If I had to distill my most significant life lessons into one which has made the most noticeable difference it is this:

“Paul, be a little kinder to yourself”.

Kindness is like a lubricant and can get all sorts of things moving again. Without it we might grinding gears but not really doing ourselves any favours in the long run.

Kindness isn’t always the easy thing, it’s not even always the nicest thing, but it’s the thing that does the most good, and a little goes a long way.

It may seem counterintuitive, but when we’re kinder to ourselves, we naturally have more kindness for others. It’s a win-win.

Remember the airline safety demo? You need to fit your own oxygen mask before you’re capable of helping others.

With love

People rarely tell me which technique they liked most.

Instead, they tell me how they felt.

Words like ‘Safe, calm, able to switch off.’

For many of us, life asks our bodies to stay alert for far longer than they’re designed to.

My aim isn’t simply to work on muscles. It’s to create an environment where your nervous system feels safe enough to breathe, soften and let go.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their experience. It means a great deal, and it helps others understand what a session is really like.

If you’ve been carrying more than you realise, you’re always welcome. by @movepauserestore

The self-reliance trap is an easy one to fall into.

It certainly is for me.

As a coach and mental health support worker, I often notice my identity slipping into the role of helper.

As the one who supports others, I need all the answers, I’m the one who handles things.

But I’ve noticed I’m usually at my most empowered when I let go of that identity.

When I allow myself to be supported.

When I ask for help.

The trap is this:

When being independent, capable and resilient becomes part of our identity, what begins as a strength can become a limitation.

We stop receiving.
We stop reaching out.
We stop allowing others to contribute.

Not because we don’t need support.

Because we’ve become attached to being the one who provides it.

It’s something I see in my coaching too.

People get the best results when I work with them, not for them.

The moment someone believes they have to do it all alone, progress often slows.

And the moment they believe someone else is going to do it all for them, it slows too.

The sweet spot is working together.

One of the most humbling things we can do is allow ourselves to receive help and acknowledge the role other people play in our lives.

It doesn’t make us weaker. It makes us more human.

When self-reliance becomes an identity, it becomes a trap. And the way out is realising we don’t have to carry things alone. It doesn’t make us weaker. It makes us more human.

If this resonated with you, you’re welcome to join us.

My time in Royal Marines taught me the importance of support.

One of the things military training teaches you very quickly is that nobody succeeds alone.

When you’re tired, uncomfortable and carrying more than you think you can manage, you rely on the people around you.

Sometimes outwardly. Sometimes silently.

Sometimes simply because their presence helps you keep putting one foot in front of the other.

20 years later I was reminded of that lesson again.

My best friend @hudson_bearsy moved back to Norwich and immediately my exercise habits improved.

Simply because I wasn’t doing it alone anymore.

We’re often told that progress comes down to discipline and willpower.

But increasingly, I think support matters just as much.

The people, places and practices that help us keep going when life feels heavy.

Self-reliance is something to respect but a load is always lighter when it’s shared. by @movepauserestore

One of the most interesting ideas I’ve come across is that the moment we learn something, we stop really seeing it.

We see our idea or concept of it instead.

It’s true with birds and it’s also true of our partners, our work, our emotions, and even ourselves.

His reason for booking was:

“A treat and to relax.”

A reminder that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes it looks like setting aside an hour for yourself, prioritising your needs, and allowing yourself to receive some care for a change.

What I find interesting is that people arrive for all sorts of different reasons, and no two sessions are ever quite the same.

Some people need help easing physical tension.

Others simply need a chance to slow down, breathe, and put down some of what they’ve been carrying.

Either way, it’s a privilege to be part of that process. by @movepauserestore

Life isn’t always the problem. Sometimes it’s the state we’re meeting life from.

A client said something today:

“When I’m stressed everything feels difficult. Now I feel relaxed and capable again.”

Stress has a way of making everything feel bigger, heavier and more urgent than it really is.

Sometimes the most useful thing we can do isn’t push harder.

It’s create a little space to breathe, soften and reconnect with ourselves. by @movepauserestore

Which of these beliefs do you think does the most damage?

I shared this a few months ago as part of a collaboration with @stepstotogetherness and felt it was worth revisiting.

When we talk about men’s mental health, we often focus on the symptoms. Anxiety, depression, burnout, and even suicide.

However, beneath these struggles are often some deeply ingrained beliefs about what it means to be a man in the world today.

A real man doesn’t ask for help.
A real man has to be in charge.
A real man doesn’t show emotion.

I don’t believe masculinity is the problem.

I think many of us have simply inherited ideas that no longer serve us.

The healthier alternative isn’t to reject masculinity, but to redefine it in a way that allows us to be strong, connected, emotionally aware, and willing to grow.
