Spent the day out at Withlacoochee State Forest on the Croom trails and parts of the Florida Trail. 🌲

I tested the ankle with an easy 5-mile walk/jog after two weeks of recovery while my friends were out there doing 9 miles, 16 miles and the 50K.

I honestly thought I was going to have MAJOR FOMO being there and not racing 😂 but I actually loved it. I got to cheer everyone on, take pictures and just be out there supporting my friends for a change.

Turns out you don’t always have to be the one wearing the bib to have a really good day on the trails. ❤️

And the ankle behaved… so that made the day even better. 🙌

I don’t regret a single minute of the time I spent at home with my children, raising them to be the amazing humans they are today. ❤️

But now, as an empty nester, I’ve realized something…

Time is of the essence.

Sitting around waiting for the perfect time, the perfect circumstances, or “someday” is just wasting the life you have right now.

Wear the dress.
Buy the shoes.
Take the trip.
Sign up for the race.
Go see the sunset.

Do the thing that scares you a little.

Stop waiting for the perfect moment.

This is the moment. Go live it. ✨

Apparently this sea-level Florida girl keeps thinking the cure for everything is to go higher. ⛰️

Four days at altitude, a half marathon, freezing river dips, hot springs, campfires, old friends, new friends, wildlife, very little sleep and not one real shower. I came home smelling like a campfire and already missing it.

I flew into Denver and headed toward Buena Vista and Collegiate Peaks. Before settling into camp, I continued up to Cottonwood Pass for a short hike around 12,000 feet to start acclimating and, even cooler, to finally stand on a section of the Continental Divide Trail.

I met up with my beautiful friend @mphoffman2000 , who I’ve shared so many adventures with, and two amazing new women who quickly felt like old friends.

We camped at Collegiate Peaks Campground around 10,000 feet. Even though I spend a lot of time traveling to altitude, I’m still a sea-level girl. 😂 The restless nights and headaches were a reminder of that.

The day before the race, we did a shakeout hike through part of the Barbara Whipple Trail System to check out the course, followed by a freezing dip in the Arkansas River.

Saturday was my second Trail Sisters Half Marathon in Buena Vista — roughly 8,000 feet and 1,600 feet of gain. The climbing wasn’t the challenge; pushing at elevation was.

I went in hoping for a PR and crossed the finish line at about the same time as last year. Chef’s kiss. 🤌 Holding my time at elevation felt like a win. Sometimes the accomplishment isn’t getting faster — it’s realizing what your body can do and being damn proud of it.

Afterward, we traded the freezing river for hot springs, cooked over the campfire, slept under the stars and even had a mama deer and her two little fawns visit behind our tents. 🦌

I took the scenic way back to Denver through Leadville and Georgetown because I wasn’t quite ready to leave the mountains.

Old friends, new friends, mountains, tired legs, campfires and a little discomfort — these are the weekends that fill me back up.

Home grateful, happy and already thinking about the next adventure. 🔥⛰️

Every year, I look forward to the Trail Sisters race weekend. This year did not disappoint! Camping under the brightest stars, meeting cool new friends and spending time with amazing women, drinking coffee at our campfire, awesome hikes and views in Buena Vista, dips in the Arkansas River, and the hot springs. See ya next year, BV and Trail Sisters! by @movewithamalie

Find your crazies and get out there! 🤪🌲🌙

We were supposed to start at 6pm but Florida lightning had other plans ⚡️ Finally got going at 7:30pm and honestly, the rain made it perfect. It cooled the trails way down and drizzled most of the night.

Less than 10 years ago, running alone through the woods in the pitch dark? HELL NO. 😂 Now I freaking love how peaceful it is out there.

20 miles done, in bed by 3am. Now for a Sunday of recovery and getting ready for the week. 🙌

Sarcastically running away from 54… 😂🎂
But the truth is, I’m embracing it.

I spent much of my adult life around women fighting the aging process, and somewhere along the way, aging became something to fear. I don’t want that for my children or the younger generation watching me.

Yes, I see the wrinkles, saggy skin and forgetful mind. 😂 But I also see a resilient, strong, inquisitive woman who still wants to explore, run trails, climb mountains, get dirty and see what’s around the next corner.

I’m grateful for the strength I’m building, the memories I’m making, and especially for four absolutely fabulous humans who make me so proud to be their mom. ❤️

Would I be 20 again? Probably. 😂 But only with everything I know today… which pretty much defeats the purpose.

Here’s to 54. Older, wiser, stronger, curious and grateful. 🥂

Thank you @runboylan for an amazing bday trip and being a trooper with my shenanigans. Love you 🥰

Happy birthday to our newest dirt sister, Mandy! 🥳⛰️

We met Mandy back in May while grinding through the Mingus Traverse 80. Somewhere along the way, we realized her pace matched ours perfectly. At one point when I wasn’t sure I could keep going, the plan was for Mandy to become Laura’s night partner. Luckily, I pushed through, kept up, and the three of us kept moving together. ❤️

We even got to celebrate our early birthdays at Pepe’s when Mandy came into town!

Looking back, I realized that even though we took photos along the way, somehow we never took one of the three of us together on the trail. I guess that’s a reminder to be a little more present and capture the people in those moments too—even when everything hurts. 😂

Trail running has given me so many opportunities to meet amazing people, and for that I’m so grateful.

And all four women in this photo are heading back to Cocodona next year! Two taking on the 125, one the 39, and one coming back as crew and pacer. Different roles, same dirt. 🏜️

Happy birthday, Mandy! So grateful the trails brought us together. 🫶

Who’s someone you met on the trail who became part of your life?

35 tough miles rountrip from Brooksville to Pine Island and back. 🚴‍♀️🔥

A swim in the Gulf of Mexico made every mile worth it. Add in the Florida heat, a gas station beer, and good company... that’s a pretty perfect day in my book. 🍻🌊

One year ago today, Laura and I crossed the finish line of Speedgoat 50K at Snowbird, Utah.

For two Florida girls, taking on 32 miles with nearly 12,000 feet of climbing between 8,000 and 11,000 feet of elevation was one of the biggest challenges we’d ever faced. It was, without a doubt, the hardest thing I had ever done.

Every climb tested us. Every descent challenged us. There were moments when we questioned everything, but we kept pulling and pushing each other forward until we reached that finish line.

And yes... we finished DFL (dead freaking last).
A year later, it’s still one of the accomplishments I’m most proud of.

That race taught me more about grit, perseverance, and believing in myself than any finish time ever could. Sharing it with Laura made it even more special.

Tomorrow morning, a whole new group of runners will toe the start line. Wishing each and every one of you an incredible race. Respect the mountain, embrace the challenge, soak in the views, and remember—you are capable of more than you think.

Good luck, Speedgoat runners! I’ll be cheering you on from Florida. 💙⛰️

Back at the Cocodona packet pickup, getting our Mingus Traverse 80 bibs, we were just a little excited 😆.

We first met Sally at Long Haul in Florida, so getting to see her again in Arizona called for one thing... an ambush for a photo! 💛🏃‍♀️

Thank you @sally_mcrae for being such a ray of sunshine!
