Everybody comes to Andros for the bonefish, and I understand why, but some fun can be had on the reef edge too. @ronluhur threw a heavy clouser for this schoolmaster, bar jack and yellowtail snapper, all on the fly and all hitting hard. We also had a few triggerfish follow the fly and turn away, which is about what you expect from triggerfish. These fish get overlooked but in three feet of water over coral they are as pretty as anything on the flats. Same water, different fish.

You spend enough time out here and you learn to read the sky as well as the water. We ran out in the morning with @ronluhur on dead calm water and finished the day watching that wall come across the flats.

A lemon shark working a big school of bones. Good signs of a healthy ecosystem. Watch the school open up to let him through and close right back. He went home hungry. Next time a bonefish refuses your fly, don’t feel too bad. They’ve been outsmarting things scarier than us.

This is what everybody comes for. Andros bonefish. Look how clear that water is, you can watch the whole thing happen. The follow and the eat. Kept her wet in the net, quick photo, then off she went.

Parker made a deal with his dad four years ago: keep the grades up, chase bones in Andros. Kid followed through, showed up ready, and had a blast out there. Two of them smiling all day, catching fish together. A trip they earned and won’t forget. 👏👏 @coloradokids12978
