8 months in and the pace is slower.
Uncomfortable.
But frees my mind up
to notice details in between.
To hear more of what’s unspoken.
Craving moments to steal away with my sudoku puzzles.
And actually arriving early for school pick-up.

Lots of not-used-to, unfamiliar moments.
Befriending them to see where this leads.

A family rhythm that we’ve been doing the past 3 weeks with the kids that I absolutely love:

At dinner we each go around and share 3 things we’re grateful for from the day, then 1 thing that was hard, and lastly 1 thing that we’re excited for tomorrow.

It’s something the kids now look forward to and sparks great table conversation 🥰 They actually ask if they can start sharing and volunteer to go first before I even have to bring it up. At ages 4 and 7 I think it’s a big win 🙌

Been hoping that we could establish something like this to normalize talking about both the good and bad parts of life.

Teaching our kids how to hold space for one another and be open about communication has been a big prayer of mine, and it feels like it’s happening 🥹

Being a mom sometimes still feels surreal and moments like these remind me that I’m actually raising amazing humans who are going to change the world one day.

What defines her isn’t what she does. It’s who she is.

It’s out of an overflow of who I am, that I offer to others what I can.

This year, my biggest mental workout will be to believe that I will be taken care of and don’t have to force anything into existence.

Lord remind me when I forget every day what matters most.

Remind me that this world is temporary.
That my worth is innate.
That you always provide.
That I am made to rest in You.
That you are good.
The battle is already won.

And when I forget again tomorrow, remind me.

Look who grew up 🙋‍♀️

Do you sometimes pause and stare in awe at all the things you’re doing?🤔

For me, I’m stunned I use insurance properly, make doctor appointments, own a business, parent kids, pay bills, and floss my teeth daily. Like, how the heck is this my life and when did I arrive to adulthood?😱

Needless to say, you’re probably handling way more than you give yourself credit for, my friend.

Press pause and give your inner child a big hug for everything you accomplished until now. It’s a big deal that you came this far 🤗 You learned a lot. Managed a lot. Overcame a lot.

When the noise loudly tells you to do more, be more, get more, or know more…

✋🛑RESIST AND REMEMBER: You’re a human, not a machine.

Ditch the potential mindset and live in the present with a grateful heart ❤️

Happy Birthday, Angie ❤️ 7 years later and so much has changed.

Grief will only break fully when we are both in the same place. For now, keep showing me glimmers of your joy and zest for life from the other side.

Learned a lot about myself this year.

I prefer to support from behind the scenes, rather than be the leader.

I want to have a few people close, rather than knowing a lot of humans only a little.

I don’t like working on projects by myself because collaboration is where I get energized.

I still have a long way to go in understanding what my boundaries are, so that I can communicate them clearly to family and clients.

I need structure to function or my brain goes into analysis paralysis with the possibilities of how to spend my day.

I’m very sensitive to the energy that people give off and can tell right away if I want to actually be around them.

I find the most rest and soul connection when I’m outside, moving my body, and listening to music.

I struggle with executive functioning and have always thought it was because I was lazy, stupid, or irresponsible. But now I know it’s just because my brain functions differently.

I’m really good at making people feel seen, valued, and heard.

I love my little family more than I ever have and feel so safe and understood by the 3 of them.

I will always fight for the underdogs and am a sucker for a good comeback story.

I need a lot of space to recharge and fill my tank back up because of my intensity level.

For everyone who’s struggling mentally this month, but can’t explain it to the outside world, praying for you - you’re not alone🙏
