Last night’s opening reception with our trio of artists was a wonderful get together! Thanks to Rob Decina, Anny Willis and Maggie Ploener for sharing your creative inspiration, ideas and techniques, plus friends and family we all enjoyed meeting.

Be sure to stop up to the third floor by October 1 to see this amazing abstract art show. The brilliant colors and rich textures are so worth seeing in person!

100+ knitted scarves showing 100+ years of temperature change in the Hudson Valley.

We’re thrilled to showcase the entire collection at Mahopac Library, Third Floor Gallery through July 27.

July 11, 2026 12:00 to 2:00 PM Public Reception, learn more about the Tempestry Project, light refreshments, open to the public, no registration required.

About The Tempestry Project:

A “Tempestry” is a temperature tapestry - a knitted scarf-sized wall hanging that shows the daily high temperatures for a specific location and year...this exhibit shows temperatures in the Hudson Valley from 1896 - 2024.

130 knitters from across the Mid-Hudson Library System volunteered to create this one-of-a-kind traveling exhibit.

Knitters personally chose the year they wished to represent and were provided temperature data, an instruction kit and color-coded yarns. Each yarn color represents a temperature range.

Each scarf shows January - December temperatures for that year. What year were you born? Look for it to see what the temperatures were like then!

As you look at the exhibit as a whole, you can see how the climate has changed in 100+ years
here in the Hudson Valley.

Special thanks to the @midhudsonlibsys Mid-Hudson Library System and the @tempestryproject for sharing this amazing exhibit with the Mahopac community!

Calling professional and talented amateur artists: apply by July 18 for upcoming art exhibits in our large Third Floor Gallery space at Mahopac Public Library.

Solo exhibits (30+ works) and small group shows curated by the Mahopac Library Art Gallery Committee.

Paintings. Illustrations. Photography. Mixed Media.

Ages 18+

No entry or hanging fees.

Professional hanging, promotional materials, press listing, and the chance to display and sell your art in a large, community space. (Sales optional.)

All work should be framed, wired and ready to hang.
