There’s a strange thing about the glory days…

Most of the time, you don’t know you’re in them while they’re happening.

You’re just showing up. Training. Bleeding on bars. Arguing over bands and box heights. Trying to survive another Friday night at Westside.

Then one day you look back at an old picture and realize:
that wasn’t just another Meet.

That was an era.

Louie was still here.
Westside was still Westside.
And some of the people in this picture would go on to become legends in strength sports.

Back then it all felt normal to us.
Now I realize how rare it really was.

Glad I got to live through that time.
There’ll never be another era quite like it.

7 is the number of completion.

Saturday was a good day. I traveled to Las Vegas to compete at The Mr. Olympia WPO-PRO. I finished the day with a 1228lb squat 975lb bench press and 771lb deadlift for a 2974 total, which gave me the win. It's not my best day by any stretch. Every competition has gut check moments. This one was no exception and was happy to answer the call. Oftentimes, days like this motivate a breakthrough.

Oddly, it was someone's birthday. Louie would say, "If you ain't breaking world records, you better be winning." So happy birthday, old man. I'm still here doing the thing we love. Westside is still winning.

A very special thank you to the #NightCrew far and wide. They travel from coast to coast to help me do the thing. If it wasn't for all of them, I wouldn't still be here doing this.

What a great experience competing at the @mrolympiallc. Hats off to @worldpowerorg for running a class event. Special thank you to @twincitiesbarbell for their extreme generosity and support. Big thank you to @inzeradvancedesigns for always being in my corner and providing me with the best gear available.

The job is not done. Their is still more work to do. Louie always said, "The answers are always in the gym." That's where I'll be.

Sometimes you just break through to the other side. A wise Yoda like old man once told me "the deadlift is the true test of strength". He's probably not wrong.

This weekend has been crazy! So many incredible things happened so quickly. I had the absolute honor to meet WWE Hall of Famer @therealrvd ROB! VAN! DAM! I was warming up to Bench and just happen to catch him walking through. Super down to earth guy. He stopped and took the time to chat with me for a few minutes. Totally made my day! I felt like a kid on Christmas.
