One thing I’ve noticed from game situations is that in the run game as a receiver you sometimes don’t know where the DB is going to go, sometimes he might try avoiding you or if he’ll just try to run you over. I like this drill because you have to run, get your head around fast, locate the DB and then use your technique (read and react)

I’ve seen talented players hurt their teams because they couldn’t put the team before themselves.

You don’t have to be the best player, the loudest leader, or even a starter to be a GREAT teammate.

But you do have to understand that your attitude, effort, and energy affect the guys around you.

The best teammates make the people around them better, even when things aren’t going their way.

And remember, being a bad teammate today doesn’t mean you can’t become a great one tomorrow.

One day you’ll realize it wasn’t just about the wins, touchdowns, or Friday night lights.

It was the bus rides, the locker room jokes, the practices you complained about, the teammates who became brothers, and the feeling of representing your school every Friday night.

You might play football again after high school, but you’ll never get THIS version of football back.

So soak it all in. Take the pictures. Enjoy your teammates. Thank your coaches. And most importantly, leave everything you have on that field.

Because eventually, the lights turn off, the pads come off, and those Friday nights become memories.

Being coachable doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything your coach says, never make mistakes, or be a perfect player.

It means being willing to LISTEN, LEARN, APPLY, and GROW.

It means understanding that when a coach corrects you, they’re not always criticizing you. They’re trying to help you become a better version of yourself.

It means taking accountability instead of making excuses, asking questions when you don’t understand, and making a genuine effort to apply what’s being taught.

And as coaches, it’s our responsibility to create an environment where players feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and making mistakes.

There’s a reason my receivers don’t wear gloves at practice.

It’s not a punishment. It’s about developing confidence, concentration, and consistency.

I want my guys to trust their hands, not their equipment. Catching without gloves forces you to focus on the ball, watch it all the way in, and develop a better feel for the catch.

The goal isn’t to make catching harder. It’s to build habits that carry over to Friday nights.

Gloves are a tool, NOT a substitute for fundamentals.

Proud of the way our boys fought. We had a great game with a great football team and came up just short, 29-28.

After a loss like that, it’s easy to immediately start thinking about what the players could’ve done differently. But one thing I’m learning as a coach is to look at myself first.

Did I prepare them enough? Could I have communicated something better? Was there a situation I could’ve coached differently? What can I do better to put our guys in the best position to succeed?

The boys fought hard and gave us everything they had. Now it’s my job to figure out where I can be better too.

That’s why I believe in the 24-hour rule. Feel it. Learn from it. Own your part in it. Then after 24 hours, we move forward.

Players get better. Coaches get better

Receivers need to be a great teammate when the ball isn’t in their hands. So when you see another receiver catch it, you find someone to block and help your brother score!

We took a big L last night but i always tell my guys WIN or LOSE we have 24 hours to celebrate and or figure out what we did bad, learn how to fix it and move on!
