God has a funny way of bringing things full circle.

For years, mentors and previous employers encouraged me to go back to school, and my answer was always no. After undergrad, life was challenging, and taking on more student debt simply wasn’t something I wanted to do.

I was even encouraged to pursue paths that sounded great on paper, but I knew they weren’t what God placed on my heart. That taught me the importance of having your own relationship with God. Good advice can come from good people, but you still need discernment to know what’s meant for you.

Then God brought me to Jacksonville and opened the door for me at UNF.

During employee orientation, I learned one of our benefits was free education. I laughed because anyone close to me knew finances were one of my biggest reasons for not going back.

It felt like God was saying, “Now what’s your excuse?” 😂

So 11 years after undergrad, I’m starting grad school.

This season will require sacrifice, and some things I love may have to take a back seat for a while. But I trust that what God has for me will still be there when the time is right.

Sometimes the opportunity isn’t late. God is preparing the right circumstances for your yes.

New chapter. Same motto.

For 24 years, I had questions I didn’t have answers to.

I searched. I prayed. I lost hope. And somehow, when I least expected it, God allowed me to find the woman I had been looking for my entire life.

Some answers don’t come when we want them. That doesn’t mean they aren’t coming.

Your story may have started with pain, but you still get a say in how it continues.

This was only the beginning of mine.

I found her after 24 years.
I only got 7 years with her.

I know many foster kids never get this opportunity, and for some who do, the story doesn’t always turn out how they hoped.

But this is part of my story. And I’m stepping out on faith by finally sharing it. ❤️🕊️

Sharing my story online somehow reached a school. Crazy how God works. 🙏🏽

It’s been a few years since I’ve had the opportunity to speak at a school, and being back reminded me how much I love this. Grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the panel and pour into the Class of 2027 at Westside High School for GEAR UP Week.

Thank you Kiara for the opportunity and for believing I had something worth sharing. This was a reminder from God that this is part of my calling, and hopefully the first of many here in Jacksonville. ❤️
