CROATIA | @rebelxscape @rebelinternational @ourppls @zouklovelondon @realuncledelroy

Whenever I’m invited abroad to provide wellbeing support, I’m reminded that it’s not only the creatives or guests who need attending to, it’s often the people working tirelessly behind the scenes.

I’ve seen staff work incredibly long hours with little sleep, forget to eat, become dehydrated in scorching heat, and face relentless turnarounds to deliver exceptional experiences.

Wellbeing support isn’t a luxury, it’s an investment. A healthy workforce is what allows a business to operate optimally and sustainably.

What stood out most was the importance of integrated working, thoughtful event planning, well-resourced teams, and robust, streamlined logistical systems to create the containment staff needed to perform at their best. When teams have the capacity, clear expectations, and meaningful support to work effectively; safety, well-being, and exceptional delivery naturally follow.

Being there also meant holding myself accountable. I was intentional about protecting my own wellbeing. I maintained relatively good sleep hygiene (even if that meant skipping the all-night parties when off shift), requested vegan meals when they weren’t available, stayed hydrated, kept up with my electrolytes, exercised, swam, meds, walked in the sun, and opted out of activities that didn’t align with my value, all in turn honouring my own boundaries.

Wellbeing isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we practice, we embody, we model.

CROATIA | @rebelxscape @rebelinternational 🇬🇭🇱🇨🇯🇲

Within psychology, psychological safety is often viewed as something cultivated within the therapeutic relationship, a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported. But this experience reaffirmed my awareness that well-being doesn’t begin and end in the therapy room.

As a holistic, community-based psychotherapist I know psychological safety is also created collectively. It lives in the environments we build, the communities we nurture, and the cultures we honour.

Working alongside the wellbeing team at @ourppls reinforced that caring for people means attending to their holistic needs. Sometimes that’s practical support, first aid, sanitary products, condoms, hydration, or a quiet place to decompress. Sometimes it’s emotional support, grounding, and breathing exercises. And sometimes, it’s something even more profound: creating the conditions for people to reconnect with themselves through movement, music, and culture.

The cultural heritage of soca, zouk, dancehall, and reggae offers more than entertainment. These traditions hold history, identity, resilience, and joy. They remind us that well-being is embodied, that healing can be found not only through conversation, but through movement, rhythm, connection, and collective celebration.

For me, this was a powerful reminder that psychological safety isn’t just something we facilitate one-to-one. It’s something we can intentionally cultivate in the spaces where people gather, create, and belong.

Because when people feel safe, in mind, body, spirit and community, they don’t just cope. They flourish.
♥️💛💚

Research consistently shows that positive relationships are one of the strongest predictors of wellbeing. Our wellbeing is inextricably connected to the people beside us, our community. As the philosophy of Ubuntu reminds us: I am because we are. 🌿

@ourppls’s Well-Being Team at @rebelxscape , Croatia fulljoying @realuncledelroy’s dancehall Karaoke. An absolute time was had!

We gather together not only to forget our troubles and dance, but because when we invest in our people, we create stronger teams, better experiences, and lasting memories.

Thank you to the incredible people who made it all possible. 🇭🇷

At the beginning of every year, I pray and sit with a word.

A word that becomes an anchor. A compass. A mandate.

This year, that word was TRANSFORMATION. (Isaiah 43:19)

I thought transformation would look outward. Business success. Educational progress. More visible markers of growth.

Instead, this year invited me inward.

Into spaces that were slow, confronting and, at times, daunting.

What I thought would be a year of material progress became a year of internal process.

I’ve since learnt that transformation can be cyclical. Ever becoming and ‘unbecoming’, yet still transforming.

Give Jah thanks and praises!
