Our founder @mr.livity presented his research at the BACP’s first pre-conference for postgraduate students.

Dominant Eurocentric worldviews continue to shape how healing and wellbeing are understood, researched, and practiced. My research challenges this by foregrounding African and African-Caribbean ways of knowing and healing, approaches that centre holistic wellbeing, community, spirituality, culture, embodiment, and lived experience. Expanding whose knowledge is valued is essential to creating more just and culturally grounded understandings of wellbeing.

Please let me know if you’re interested in contributing to this research.

Excited to present my research at the BACP’s annual international research conference during the preliminary stages of its development.

Central to this study is the exploration of how community knowledges across disciplines shape ideas about healing in the context of colonialism and racialisation. From a diasporic vantage point, this research privileges holistic, community-based healing for Black, African and African-Caribbean communities in Britain.

FEEDFORWARD IN SWITZERLAND 🇨🇭

Following our international sharing circle with Black men in Zürich, participants reflected on the rarity of being in a space where they could arrive fully as themselves: vulnerable, honest, witnessed, and held without judgment.

Despite the diversity in countries, cultures and lived experiences, common threads surfaced — belonging, grief, spirituality, intersectionality, and the deep need for spaces where Black men can speak freely and be met with care.

As part of Joden Joseph’s (@mr.livity) creative wellbeing consultation for the collective, it was an honour to facilitate this gathering and witness the wisdom, courage, and connection that unfolded in the room.

Healing does not happen in isolation. It happens in community, in conversation, and in the moments we recognise ourselves in one another.

Thank you to every man who shared, listened, and contributed to the circle.

Research shows that Black men do express themselves when offered a safe enough space and the right medium to support that expression.

Through a range of international engagements, Joden Joseph (@mr.livity) has facilitated therapeutic group experiences for Black men that have fostered belonging, strengthened identity, encouraged peer support, and expanded emotional language.

These spaces demonstrate what the research continues to affirm: when creativity, community, and culturally relevant approaches come together, meaningful healing can occur.

Don’t believe us? Tune into our next post and hear directly from the men themselves.

I’ve been following the work produced at @houseofdread_ since last year, and I’ve rarely missed an event so it was a fulljoy to get the chance to work alongside @leemagray and the whole massive and crew to curate the Rastafari reasoning corner at @citysplashfest 2026.

Give thanks to @lutanfyahmusic for the reasoning. Check out his new album release this year with an entire selection of beats produced by the man himself‼️

Big up @yolly.rockaz for the design on the t-shirt. Check out the good works from this multihyphenate‼️

Keep donating to the Caribbean hurricane fund to support those impacted @black.curatorial
