I’ll never forget how I used to be a big brother behind a mask. I always believed that i was right and my little sisters didn’t know better, being the only guy in the house I would try to fulfill a role I was yet not qualified for and as a result I would try to fulfill it out of frustration that was fueled by a pressure that was put onto me. I became authoritative, domineering and so full of pride and ego that I lost who I was to my sisters. I was a brother, a father figure and a friend to them and I tarnished all of those relationships because I wouldn’t allow myself to relate to them, to lower my guard and just listen to them without replying. And it’s sad because I genuinely believed in my heart that what I was doing was right, that rigid and strict father role is what I had to play, that older brother who won’t allow his little sisters to do certain things and go certain places was the best brother I could be for them. Truth is I was forcing them to be different people at home vs who they truly are outside. I forced them to wear mask too.

When I realised my faults, and how much damage I have caused, I remember calling all of my sisters to the living room and went on my knees and cried to them to ask for their forgiveness and to only accept me back if they want to. I have harmed all of the different relationships I had with them and I had no right to welcome myself back into those roles. It was their choice to accept me back as their brother, father figure and friend.

When you are a leader and you have destroyed your reputation, your character and integrity people loose trust in you. You have no right to ever welcome yourself back as their leader for you have disqualified yourself it is only up to the people to accept you back as their leader. It is dependent on what you do from then on.
