Reason one of many why Slovenia was an under-the-radar gem: their farms. 10/10, would recommend.

The last year+ has been different for us, primarily from a traveling perspective. I realized recently that I also haven’t posted a lot of pics from the adventures that we took over the course of the last few years.

In the next few weeks/months, I plan to remedy that.

Between posts and Stories, I’m taking the approach of this mountain goat we crossed paths with while hiking in Glacier National Park in 2020… sit back and enjoy the views.

Ten years. Today marks a decade of living in Colorado.

To celebrate, we went back to where it all started, Copper Mountain.

From showing up with just my little 2-door Civic in 2012 to convincing her to move here with me “for a couple years” and turning it into a place where we can’t check things off our To Do List fast enough, it’s been a fun ride. Africa’s tallest mountain.
39 miles over 6 days.
15,600’ of elevation gain.
16,000’ of elevation loss.
Final elevation of 19,341’.
.
There was a period where we were hiking for 24 of 34 hours with less than 4 of those being sleep (for some of us, none of that time was spent sleeping).
.
Summit day that started at 11pm, was lit by a full moon, and included multiple hallucinations and incidents where we fell asleep while actively hiking. We saw the sun rise from roughly 19,000’ and reached the summit just after 7am.

The saying goes, “kill Kili before Kili kills you.” We did. We kicked Kili’s ass.

For the last 2 days, I was under the understanding that ‘pole pole’ (pronounced polé polé) is the Swahili phrase for ‘thank you’. Today I was informed it means ‘slowly slowly’, which is the approach everyone is encouraged to take as they hike Kilimanjaro. Now I understand why so many waiters and waitresses either laughed at me or looked at me like a crazy person.
