This weekend was about more than just jiu-jitsu.

The Marine Reconnaissance Foundation Combatives Team came together for two days of training, learning, and building relationships on the mats. Our goal was simple: bring teammates together, provide a unique grappling event here in Eastern North Carolina, and continue helping grow the local jiu-jitsu community.

A huge thank you to the leadership of the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation for their continued support of the Combatives Team and for helping make this event possible. Their support gives us the opportunity to bring teammates together through martial arts, strengthen our community, and continue expanding the reach of the MRF mission.

We were also fortunate to have an incredible group of instructors share their knowledge and experience throughout the weekend. Thank you to John Salter, Richie Martinez, Isaac Cordova, and Zach Lecates for giving their time and bringing a ton of value to everyone who stepped on the mats.

One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to see our teammate @b.donnjj earn his black belt. Reaching that level represents years of hard work, discipline, and commitment to the art, and it was awesome to have so many teammates there to share that moment with him. Congratulations, Ben—well earned!

And thank you to everyone who showed up, trained hard, supported the event, and helped make the weekend a success.

Events like this are exactly what the MRF Combatives Team is about, using martial arts to strengthen our community, reconnect teammates, and support the mission of the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation.

20 years in with 9 years a Black Belt I earned my 3rd Degree.

Thankful for my teachers @tim.6849 and Mike Buckels for the endless patience and guidance. Thank you to my teammates for pushing me every single week. Thank you to my family for supporting me through every hard day. This only means I have the responsibility to learn more, work harder and help others the way others have helped me. In everything give thanks 🙏

Thankful for the opportunity to step in to the arena, for jiujitsu, and for the people.

Went out to the @thecarolinacopperheads @pgfworld qualifier and had a blast being surrounded by awesome people.
