We spent years learning how to be ourselves. Now we get to spend a lifetime being ourselves together. 🏳️‍🌈

Coming out is more than a moment. It’s a journey of self-discovery, courage, vulnerability, and ultimately, the freedom to live authentically (and fiercely).

As I look back at our wedding photos, I’m reminded that what may seem like ordinary moments of love and happiness are actually something extraordinary. Two men, standing proudly beside one another, promising a lifetime together. A love that doesn’t have to hide, whisper, or apologize for existing.

I’m reminded of something we shared during our wedding speech:

“To our friends and family, thank you for showing up, for loving us, and for reminding us that our story is part of something much bigger. We recognize what a privilege this is. Our younger selves could never have envisioned a wedding where the gays would be celebrated. Though times have changed and we are happy to celebrate our love openly and loudly, we also recognize that many of those we love, some of whom could not be here, are being persecuted and villainized simply for being themselves.”

Those words feel especially meaningful today.

Our freedom to love openly didn’t happen by accident. It was made possible by generations who came before us, who challenged expectations, demanded equality, and fought for the right to live and love authentically. Their courage helped make our celebration possible, and their legacy reminds us that there is still work to be done.

On this National Coming Out Day, we celebrate those who are out, those who are finding their way, and those who aren’t yet in a place where coming out feels safe. Your story is yours to tell, in your own time. You are no less worthy of love, belonging, or celebration.

As for us, we’ll keep living, loving, laughing, and building a life that is unapologetically our own.

Because love isn’t just about finding your person. It’s about finding the freedom to be fully yourself with them. ❤️
