In conversation with @itsmilklabel about motherhood, creativity and rest. I am so grateful I got to be a part of this beautiful motherhood series as it allowed to sit down and reflect on the past 3 and a bit years of my motherhood journey, a time in my life that profoundly changed me.

“You are a creative woman, how do you weave your creative practices into motherhood? And what are you creating at the moment?

This one has been a tricky one. I’ve tried to do both, but running a creative business on your own whilst being pregnant and wrangling a toddler isn’t an easy task. I’ve had to surrender to putting my creative endeavors aside and just fully focus on motherhood and being present with my little girl before her brother arrives. I know my time to be creative will come back sometime in postpartum and I look forward to it. It’s been really lovely to not pressure myself to be creative in the same ways I have been before.”

Nearly 11 years of loving and growing together and I couldn’t be more grateful for meeting you all those years ago. Growing by your side has been nothing short of fun, transformative and loving. Our love keeps on growing and evolving and growing a family together is the thing I cherish the most in this life. Life with you is an absolute blessing @raynjermain by @mroussety

A few days of stillness amongst nature at the beautiful Temple Hangars @templefarmhouse_byron last week. A time to pause, reset and rejuvenate before our second baby joins us. The beauty industry likes to make us believe we need more, that we need to look forever young, and that our natural bodies and faces aren’t enough to match the world’s beauty standards. The older I get, the more I realise how damaging that is and how it can totally warp our perspective of what is beautiful. It felt so refreshing to be a part of a campaign production that actually promotes natural beauty and ageing as a natural process of life. Life works in funny ways.. On the 31st of December, I made the decision to grow my jewellery business for the year ahead. Two days later, we found out I was pregnant, which I knew, meant I would have to slow down. Little did I know I would be so unwell in my first month and a bit of pregnancy, I not only had to slow down my business but I also came to realise how taxing working on my business on my own had been for my mental health, which then affected how present I could be for my family, which resulted in making the decision to close down my jewellery business. I now see how much I needed to slow everything down, to enjoy our last half a year as a family of 3. Loving the slowness of the everyday moments and it seems like the connection between my daughter and I has deepened and softened in beautiful new ways. 🌱 by @mroussety
