After a fun pre-game with friends at Sisters Pizza, we had a blast with Rocco & Chris and all the fabulous people at this year's @reddresspartysd - so much fun that we missed the official step & repeat and barely took any photos. 🤦‍♀️ And I swear Rob @sd_rc_me was there with us! While in the greater Dallas area over Labor Day weekend, I got to meet up for lunch & a quick driving tour of TCU with one of my wonderful former UCSD advisees, Megan Baldwin. Megan is in her first semester pursuing her masters in education in higher ed administration. She's also advising members of the Greek community there. Megan is a remarkable young woman and her future is bright! Go Horned Frogs! 🐸💜 (I just had to suggest The Purple Frog for lunch. Their catfish did not disappoint!)

While I'm not checking-in til tomorrow ('cuz I found a great deal at the Luxor and Grand Convention officially starts Thursday), I did stop in at the JW Marriott for dinner with @ckellied then nightcap with @uniquelysara & Katy & Marisa. Serendipity offered quick hugs with @kathyfromca @lauradoerre @eadochs and Mary Jane - yay! 🖤💛

Mira Mesa 4th of July parade this morning. I celebrate all that is good in America while also hoping for a brighter, kinder, more inclusive future for our democracy. 🇺🇸

It was so fun to ride in San Diego City Councilmember Kent Lee's parade contingent today! 🚲 I've known Kent since long before he ran for office to represent District 6. He does well for our district and our city. Kent fought hard & effectively for parks, libraries, youth programs, and arts & culture after the mayor recently tried - and failed - to decimate funding.

I'm thinking of and missing my Dad, as always, but especially today; on what would've been his 95th birthday.
I believe he and my Mom are together. While that means I am missing them both, I am also comforted knowing they are reunited and have been since she died on January 8th of this year.
Grief cuts deeper in this season now that both my beloved parents are no longer with me on earth. But I also believe that the deeper the grief, the deeper the love. 💓

"We will never be the same as we were before this loss but we are ever so much better for having had something so great to lose."

Happy heavenly birthday, Daddy! Cheers to you for a life well lived.🎂🥃

Alright friends, it’s that time of year. 🌿

Amongst other actions I'm intentionally starting and stopping, for Lent this year, I’ll be giving up…this. Yes, social media.

No Instagram. No Facebook. No doom scrolling. No telling myself that “I will just check one thing” then emerge 47 (or more) minutes later having done a deep dive into someone’s cousin’s vacation photos from 2018.

From now until Easter, I’ll be fasting from posts, memes, reels, stories, and whatever else Mark Zuckerberg wants to get us hooked on.

I plan to use the time for reflection, prayer, wading thru grief, and some self-improvement. ☮️

If you need me, try texting. Or calling. Like it’s 2007. (You can also comment on The Greg's IG or FB and he will eventually relay the message.)

Pray for my thumbs. They’re used to cardio. 😉 Instead, I'm going to join another gym and do cardio for the rest of me. Let's hope this gym doesn't go out of business like my last one! 🤦‍♀️

Highly doubt I'm first because I'm doing this as time permits in between prep for my Mom's funeral services that start this afternoon but this has at least been a fun distraction from grief.
