How are you already 9, Maddon? ❤️

Watching you grow is one of the greatest privileges of my life—and somehow one of the hardest things, too. Every year I wish I could slow time down just a little, because the little boy I swear I was just holding in my arms is becoming this incredible young man right in front of me.

As hard as it is to watch the years pass, I am so incredibly grateful that I get to be here for them. I get to watch you learn who you are, find your way in this world, and slowly become the man I know you’ll be one day.

Thank you for the sweetness you have brought into our lives. Thank you for your kind heart, your compassion, your goodness, and for simply being you. You have a way of caring about people that makes me so proud, and I hope you never lose that part of yourself.

I know one day I’m going to look at the man you’ve become and wish I could have just one more day with this 9-year-old version of you. So for now, I’m going to soak it all in—even the growing up part that I’m not quite ready for.

Another year of dancing, laughing, stressing, and watching you grow. I can’t believe you’re already 2, Sylvie Jane, or the insane amount of knowledge you’ve already managed to grasp in such a short time.

I hope you forever stay hard-headed, fiercely yourself, and never compromise the things that make you you. I know the world isn’t ready for whatever you have planned, but there’s no doubt God knew exactly what we needed when He gave us you—and exactly how much you would change our world.

Happy 1st Birthday to our boogie queen💕🪩 Sylvie Jane, your smile is as contagious as your dancing and your snuggles could cure anything. I’m not ready for this but he sure is. We officially have a 1st grader and I can’t really wrap my head around how we got here so fast but I’m enjoying every minute of the greatest ride of my life! I always wanted to be a “boy” mom but watching you grow into a little man is making me so proud and gutting me at the same time. I have absolutely no clue what I did to get you but I can’t thank enough God enough for the gift you are to everyone that knows you. It’s been a rough few weeks of sickness and craziness but you always surprise me with you tender heart and soul beyond your years. It’s never more present now than ever that this world is so evil but thank God for this little slice of heaven on earth!
