Twenty-five years ago today, I was 24, working at the U.S. Capitol. That morning started with a perfect blue sky. By 9am, we were watching the planes hit the towers on a TV in our office, then rushing to the window as black smoke rose from the Pentagon across the river. Staff evacuated in a panic. I remember high heels left behind on the Capitol lawn. I remember the relief of hearing fighter jets finally scramble overhead.

And I remember what came after the fear: Democrats and Republicans standing together on the Capitol steps singing “God Bless America.” Learning that the handsome Capitol Police officer I had a crush on, ran toward the danger that day, the same man who is now my husband of nearly 23 years.

That day taught me what real service looks like. It’s why we’re raising our three boys to be servant leaders, and why I love the work I get to do here in Worthington: showing up for my community and getting to help move us forward.

Today, let’s remember all those we lost and thank the first responders, those on Flight 93, and the service members who ran toward danger. Never forget. #NeverForget #septembereleventh by @mrsp1011

What a beautiful morning we had yesterday celebrating the ribbon cutting and Grand Opening of Worthington’s newest independent bookstore @the.whispering.page 🎉

These two had a busy first week! Vince started 8th grade and had his first football game (they won!) and Luca started his Engineering program at DACC as well as his 11th grade at TWHS. Have a great year boys! by @mrsp1011
