Today, nearly our entire ReFresh team gathered at The Osthoff Resort for a well-deserved day of spa services, connection, team building, a beautiful lunch—and plenty of laughs!

I am incredibly proud of this remarkable group of women who empower not only our patients, but also one another. Their dedication, compassion, talent and support are truly at the heart of ReFresh.
Taking time to celebrate this special team and give everyone an opportunity to relax, reconnect and recharge has become one of our favorite annual summer traditions. 🩵

Here’s to the women who make ReFresh so special—and to a day filled with gratitude, friendship and unforgettable memories! 🧖🏼‍♀️

Rounded out this week with our Quarterly Team Meeting followed by a Friday of individual team meetings. All with the end goal of strengthening ourselves professionally and as a team, so we can best serve our patients with the ReFresh ETHOS.

I'll miss you, pops. ❤️

Richard Carl Rudberg, of Chicago, IL passed away April 21, 2026 at the age of 89.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Richard spent his life living into a question he'd asked since adolescence: how does one craft a meaningful life? By all measures, he succeeded.

He earned engineering and economics degrees from the U of Minnesota, and then in 1962 volunteered for the Peace Corps, spending two years in Pakistan, a country he would call his "second homeland." Graduate degrees in civil engineering, economics and food science from Stanford followed, and then a distinguished 36-year career at
Harza Engineering Company, where he worked on hydro and irrigation projects across Honduras, Bolivia, Bangladesh, Senegal, Guyana, Pakistan, and China, including Chicago's own Deep Tunnel Project. His work was never just a career; it was an extension of the same impulse to serve that had drawn him to the Peace Corps.

Richard married Lynn Barnes, with whom he raised three beloved children, and one of his greatest joys was sharing the world with them. He brought them along on expat assignments in Guyana and Pakistan, and took them on trips to Bangladesh and Thailand, instilling in them a sense of the larger world and a responsibility to give back to it. That spirit of curiosity, service, and engagement lives on in each of them.

In 1995 he married Amy Sakata, and the two shared 31 wonderful years together —
learning many new things, including graduating from the New School of Massage in Chicago in 2015. (It was Amy's idea; Richard was recruited, initially resistant, then fully committed — becoming one of the oldest licensed massage therapists in Illinois.)

He loved a good story, a nice glass of wine, and was always quick with a laugh. In his later years, dementia and aphasia gradually affected his ability to find words but never his spirit. He remained curious, warm, and engaged to the end. And nothing lit him up quite like his five grandchildren, to whom he was "Peepop" - ever ready to swim, visit a
museum, show up as a surprise mystery reader at school or don a Santa Claus suit with complete and joyful commitment. He adored them, and they adored him. ❤️ by @mrudberg

🇫🇷🇫🇷Parisian nights & bestie highlights 👯‍♀️🗼 - had the most incredible time in Paris for a week with my bff Carey and her daughter Ella. A long time dream come true - finally!

Even got some playtime in with @bethany.kural @rakhithambi and @shayla.thambi ! 🍾

We had to move my sweet father into a memory care facility last week. We know it’s a matter of time.

This chapter in life feels hard. Watching my father slowly disappear from us is painful. No playbook available. No rules of the road. Just witness and support him through this last chapter.

My pops - a joy filled, humorous, curious!!!, loving, goofy, adventure driven magical human being…. slowly drifting away.

To all those of us who are in similar chapters (and there are so many of us), I see you and send you so much love.
