New bit of sharp..
A blend of my fave vintage dress into the @patternmaking shirt class pattern. Et voila! First dress ready for summer.. Came here for the collar, stayed for the points.

Love the sharp lines. Whipped up a cheeky little sample for @the_pattern_making_class shirt workshop. I'm a forever fan of renegade sewing, yet there's always the first one. It takes the guesswork out of the better version. Takes time but it's part of the craft. 🖤 by @ms.dandy.n

Stock drop off on open day- it's always exciting to see friends wiith new projects. Opening day for @shuhlee- new shop in Campbell arcade, below Flinders st. Super sweet selection of independent artists. Spotted the @sticky_institute re-opened their doors today too.✏️

Bridgette appreciation 🖤 said with a French accent because my middle name is Reneè.
She sews through most everything and makes life feel good again.
Sometimes it's not the right day to start a new project, so making fabulous things to carry fabulous things was enough. Small projects, treat yo'self.

Testing angles.
Weekend reset between jobs and a chance to feed creativity-this started out as a sample of an old pattern for fit, ended exploring ideas in the flow and new collar angles. It's amazing what a difference a change of a few millimetres makes to a design. So much potential.
I'm into button ups this week. It could change pretty quickly but dresses as work wear are always a vibe. Throw it on and bamm! You're dressed 💫

Part of the process. 🪡
Part of my job is as a sample machinist- I assist designers to create prototypes and initial samples of designs before production, no two weeks are ever the same. It means being technically versatile, and able to jump from one style to another, quite differrent to production, where you often repeat and refine by sewing a similar style again and again.
I often practice and refresh to keep certain techniques up to scratch. It's pretty hard to be perfect accross the board in all aspects and specialties, we don't have a production industry that supports this. But sample machinist are pretty versatile in many different areas of construction type.

A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to be assisting @juliegoodwincouture and @the_pattern_making_class for a couture handsewing techniques workshop at the NGV, super inspiring to be teaching tradtional refined skills, as opposed to the quick time saving methods we seem to be shown at the moment. Have since been taking time out to practice skills- using snippets of down time for hand sewing techniques. Currently obsessed with eyelets. May need to make something eyelet featured...
